Isn't it interesting that Japan and England are both island nations and both have the reputation for being very inhibited?

Japanese people are polite. Whether that makes them inhibited or not I don't know. I've only met a couple of English people but they seem pretty normal to me. Certainly not overly inhibited.

I think the whole binge drinking thing in Britain is because people are inhibited.

in general they are, even more so than the english, and that's why fringes of japanese culture are so freakish

i have a friend who is australian and last summer i went to his wedding and he had us all piss drunk out on the golf course of the hotel in the middle of the night playing some sort of war game. and he pulled his underwear up his asscrack and sumo wrestled.
