I saw my first Ozu films this year, and they blew my mind.
Recently I've seen Lunch Box, and Frog Song, they're both pink films directed by this guy called Shinji Imaoka. Both really great and imaginative films, with a sweetness that I would never have expected from something aimed to titilate.

i am nowhere near as omnivorous or forgiving as mr. cooley but i do love some things here/there--- kurosawa being my saint patron. madame !@#$%! favors ozu.

in any case check out ONIBABA. just-- do.

the trouble with following some japanese directors is that they can be so fucking prolific. it'skinda like following merzbow's discography-- it never ends
