Due to the years of war and violence in Iraq, it is one of the few non-African countries to have a drop in
life expectancy. Iraqi
life expectancy in 1990 for males and females from birth was 66.5, now the Population Reference Bureau
reports that life expectancy for both sexes in Iraq has dropped to a mere 59 and for males alone the life expectancy from birth is 57.
