They have this thing where they believe everything they say is simply common sense and to disagree is somehow either naive or just plain wrong.
The one I hate most is when you offer an alternative view and they respond, 'yeah, in an ideal world.' As though in an ideal world maybe we shouldn't hang murderers, but it isn't, so we have to. They have no logic to their argument, only passion. Pricks!
