I only spend time on "New Posts".
Honestly, this board isn't that great, I've been here 6 or so years and I've just seen it get worse and worse. But it's never gotten TERRIBLE. There was a few times it has approached that -- all the talk of Dinosaur Jr months ago was particularly trying..
But I appreciate a board where people can talk about Harry Partch, Sun City Girls, Nobokazu Takemaru, Secret Chiefs 3, Ikara Colt, etc... you know.. at least SOMEONE here will know what you're talking about. You're not going to find that at many boards, and most of the people here are friendly and helpful as well. I've pissed people off to no end with my opinions but as witnessed by the "who do you have on ignore?" thread, I think everyone here has enough of a sense of humor about shit to not hold grudges over an internet opinion.
It's not a perfect board, because I think we don't discuss good music enough.. we rarely discuss music at all, and I try to sway the conversations in that direction only to be mocked by people for it, so whatever. But it's a decent enough board. I mean, I've been here for a while for some reason.
Another problem with this board is how many topics we have that are duplicates of other topics. Please people, use the fucking search function once in a while.
I don't see the point in announcing you're "quitting" or "taking a break" from the board. No offense, I don't think any of us particularly care. I like you, afterthefact, I'm just saying -- I don't think any more or less of this board if I don't see your posts for a few days. I guess if you were quitting indefinitely, that'd be somewhat sad, as I have always gotten along with you on here, but just saying "yea I ain't going to check it for a few days." Is it really that big of a deal? And yeah, I posted "see ya" when I was going to Florida a few weeks ago, but that was more of a "Hey I'm excited about going to Florida!" post and not a "sorry, I won't be posting for a few days post." But really.. Does it really require that much effort to check this board for 5 minutes a day? Either post or don't post, you know? Whatever.
