I get sick of people who are always in my face, even if they are likable. These are the people who are so obsessed with themselves, they make sure that everyone around them knows all of the most insignificant details of their lives. Because God forbid someone might want to form their own opinion of you rather than having you tell them what to think.
There really is something to be said for keeping your mouth shut. When quiet people do talk, I am more inclined to listen to what they are saying. When I meet a person who can't stop talking, I basically start to tune out everything they say.

I think once you even BEGIN to make a generic list of criteria, you're fucked. Or not, as it were.
I personally think it's totally random.
*Edit: I only really ever "date" people when I'm in other countries. So perhaps they have to be foreign and easily discarded.
