Over the past year I've been playing bagpipes with Lee Ranaldo on guitar in our trio Glacial. Lee has such a big, slow sense of scale that initially it felt all wrong to me, like bad music. I didn't realise at first how much he was listening and reacting to what was going on. It made me rethink. It was like driving an 18-wheeler when you're used to a bicycle.
