Pink Floyd: The Movie - Director: Cameron Crowe
Cameron Crowe (Almost Famous), is set to direct the new upcoming Pink
Floyd movie. The film follows the life and times of Roger "Syd"
Barrett (guitarist/vocals), Roger Waters (bassist/vocals), David
Gilmour (guitarist/vocals), Nick Mason (drummer) and Richard Wright
(keyboardist).
"I have been a fan of theirs for years. Once I heard about Syd's
untimely passing, I knew I had to finally do this movie. Pink Floyd
practically invented psychedelic rock, it's time they get the credit
they deserve," Crowe said.
Ashton Kutcher has been cast portray Roger Waters, the bassist for
Pink Floyd. Roger Waters, best known for The Wall, split from the
band in the early 80s. He reunited years later for the Live 8
concert series hosted by actor/musician/activist, Bob Geldof.
"Back on the set of That 70s Show, we'd always relax to some Floyd.
It's just cool to be part of that," Kutcher said.
Johnny Depp will portray wayward genius Roger "Syd" Barrett. Barrett
was only with the band for three years, yet inspired not only Pink
Floyd but many other musicians, including ex-Blur guitarist Graham
Coxon.
"I always choose roles with depth, Syd had depth. He truly was an
enigma." Depp told, French Newspaper, Le Monde.
