It's also not totally accurate. They do have their subscription club, where you get a monthly mixtape, but those are very explicitly not the "core" albums in their catalogue - those come out less frequently and are distributed through the usual channels. Bandcamp lets any artist set up subscriptions like that to offer a bunch of stuff (new music for free, exclusives, first access to merch) and it's really not that different to signing up for an artist's fan club back in the snail mail days.
But I guess I've learned my lesson about mentioning new artists
