to me reading your "harmless fun" comment as a joke implied you making a joke on purpose, not you being ignorant or stupid. i wasn't being sarcastic about your answer, i just though "this would be a funny answer" (honestly funny)
but now without the relief of a joke we're stuck with a serious discussion about human nature, the question of evil, and the social role of surveillance. which ok, if you're serious then i'm serious
eta: but if we're serious please try to limit irony and sarcasm or at least mark it clearly because it's hard to tell in writing. at least across cultures/language groups. for irony to work seamlessly it requires a lot of assumptions and agreements, a clear code of reference. and the reference will be lost in export. and with at least two possible meanings (maybe more), one ends up in a yogi berra scenario: "when you see a fork in the road, take it!"
