just a reminder that censorship and cancellation used to be the right's game

 

they're still doing it in "don't say gay" florida and various book-burning states across the south

but the side that was supposed to be in favor of the open exchange of ideas and the light of reason isn't for those things anymore

now the left has its own word police. speaking banned words carries severe sentences! liberalism has been taken over by cultural revolution

and if you're offended, you can shut down any discussion on any subject

okay, maybe people got tired of right wing propaganda and decided to fight fire with fire

but-- it's not working, it undermines the principles of liberalism that sustained our era (liberalism broadly understood as inalienable individual rights). and because of polarization there's a serious backlash now... which will doom us, because in war the fascists are tougher and more disciplined, while the left bickers over purity issues and it eats its own
