hah, the old first-world working class was destroyed in the 80s (except in germany and northern europe maybe?) and replaced by a handful of highly disposable service serfs and a ton of macjobs.
and yet, there are ways to live on little money provided one doesn't follow the scripted path of consumerism and crushing debt-- because rich countries are still rich. and i'm not talking about dumpster diving (though it's an option as well).
