Start with the shit from the early OO's. Aays neither "batman" nor "superman", just has a big combination symbol on the top. Some of it's pretty heady stuff. Great artwork. I only followed it for a while, but I'll try to upload some images to show you what to look for.
I remember one in which an alien zombie like entity turns Batman into a monster and he beats on Superman for several pages.
Great stuff.
I'm primarily just a Batman fan when it comes to the comics, but I like Superman's history, and a number of great arcs have been done with him over the years, despite what people tend to say.
