my music, here goes nothing...
so i got some of my music, infact my first proper solo release done. its on first person records and comes as part of a series of small cd's. along with mine in this series is: sculptress, ashtray navigations, julian bradley, neil campbell and others.
so if you visit http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=878 1716 you will hear some tunes. let me know what you all think. i am very nervous and scared indeed for the reaction, if any. jon |
Sounding pretty damn good in my humble opinion. I especially liked 'the beef.' Slightly reminiscent of Godspeed (not that I'm trying to compare you to anyone). Seriously, that kicked ass, nice job!

I'll give a listen at home tonight!
Looking forward to it. |

Wow awesome noise

This reminds me I just redid all the vocals on my 4 track demo that I recorded sunday. (I practicly whispered the original vocals because it is hard to get into music without it blasting all around you)

i cant play them right now but will download them for later

The sounds are cool, but do you have an intention being made for your songs? Or is it one of those, "I like feedback, drones and shit because it's cool and stuff". |

no not at all. i just really like to create that kind of stuff. i know that there are a lot of people out there who do this kind of stuff now but i am not bothered in the slightest. |

You have a nice ear for this kind of thing. You make really great sounds. But, this is just a "tool in the shed". You have this great tool, now what are you going to do with it? Create something with it. I'd be interested to see you take your sounds and put it into some kind of structure of sorts. Heck, deconstruct it, use it for some transitions, mess with timings. I've been trying to write songs using different measures, but trying to find the "right" measures so that certain intervals & timings end up "meeting" and hitting right ontop of eachother at the same time. Hard to explain, but even harder to pull off because everything just sounds like different radios going at the same time. Keep going with it, you'll find something to do with it. Do you have an SP808? Those are really great for exploring your own sounds, also you can mix & match, play different samples/loops at the same time. |
For what it's worth, I think your stuff is great as is.
There's no need to deconstruct it or anything else unless you feel you want to. Or, as Sartre might say, it's a shed-in-itself. If you weren't so far away, I'd want to do some shows together or something. |
