Only in the movies...

Which is your favourite "only in the movies" moment.

jon boy 09.17.2006 09:39 AM

oh captain my captain! haha one of the cheesiest moments ever.

also have you noticed how women never sweat while having sex in the movies and no matter how far or fast you run, the bad guy will always be a few steps behind.

can i also add bathroom mirrors as a place where bad things are seen.

atsonicpark 09.17.2006 09:42 AM

Classic.

Everyneurotic 09.17.2006 09:48 AM

i agree

porkmarras 09.17.2006 12:06 PM

At least, the characters that matter, yes.

I voted for the Paris option. But this goes for every major city: The Empire State building in NYC, Big Ben in London, the Opera House in Sydney, Red Square in Moscow, and so on, and so on. Just in case we forget the setting I suppose.

Tokolosh 09.17.2006 12:40 PM

Where's the all option. I chose take it in turns to land punches.
Nice thread!

Die Braut 09.17.2006 12:49 PM

I voted for that strip club thing...

h8kurdt 09.17.2006 01:08 PM

How about that whenever an English guy is shown in american film he always without fail has to have a cockney accent and a bad one at that. See oceons 11 as a reference point.

Пятхъдесят Шест 09.17.2006 01:13 PM

And they are usually the villian of the film too. Those evil English chaps!

h8kurdt 09.17.2006 01:20 PM

There was an interview with the main guy from manhunter on 'top gear', when asked why they English guys seem to always be villians he said it was because the americans "feel intimdated by us". Aint it the truth, sister.

The bad guys are always punished.
Even Dudley Smith dies in L.A. Confidential - the movie.

The book is much much better, wouldn't you say? James Ellroy is probably my favorite author ever, ever, ever.

porkmarras 09.17.2006 03:12 PM

Well,as an italian ican say that we are generally portrayed as you knnow who.Considering the atrocity of the crime i'd say that i leave at that.

static-harmony 09.17.2006 03:12 PM

I voted for the tv news affecting the character. It is funny though nice thread by the way.

porkmarras 09.17.2006 03:13 PM

I think Russians have been portrayed in the same light for nearly 60 years!

I can't think of even ONE Russian character that has been a 'good guy'.

Boris and Natasha however, are the greatest Russian characters ever.

static-harmony 09.17.2006 03:18 PM

^^ I've seen those characters before.
