so, atp... rumours abound

so i hear that there will be four stages this year. not just the two of the camber sands venue. i also hear that each band will play twice and depending on what colour wrist band you have on decides which stage or time you can go see them. also hear that filpper are playing with someone quite special.

this could all be total bunkum and was discussed after several drinkipoos, but it certainly seems possible or did so at the time. i am still slightly drunk and its 12 noon.

Iain 09.10.2006 05:12 AM

Huh? The wrist band thing seems odd.

Certainly I think there are going to be 3 stages and I think it was mentioned that SY and The Stooges will play twice.

jon boy 09.10.2006 09:22 AM

its starting to wear off a bit now thanks. i walk in the sun has boosted my vitamins into the clouds.

i think we will know in november sometime, they will just announce it and hope for the best. it does make me worried that i will miss some bands that i really wanna see.

jon boy 09.10.2006 09:35 AM

ok, just hope for organisers to have some sense when they ll make scedule.[/quote]

yeah hopefully they will make it easy but its the sort of thing that could become very complicated without even trying. hopefully i will get to see everyone i want.

for the headache i reccomend some water, orange juice and a bit of a walk. usually does the trick.

still amazes me how sun or walk can cure hangover. hehe..

i think its the fresh air and exercise that do it. as soon as i sit down i just feel terrible, headache, bad mood, all that.

Cantankerous 09.10.2006 03:19 PM

so is this thurston trying to make us into his pet monkeys? i want to go see who i want to see WHEN i want to see them, god damnit.

whorefrost 09.11.2006 06:54 AM

SY are playing twice? dang!

pokkeherrie 09.11.2006 07:09 AM

yes, both them and the stooges.
at least that's what lee ranaldo told me last week in amsterdam. he said it's because they sold about 6000 tickets for this atp while the biggest hall in the new venue holds 3000 people.

whorefrost 09.11.2006 08:18 AM

hmmm... so if we're getting assigned wrist bands, i'm guessing we only get to see each band once?

pokkeherrie 09.11.2006 08:56 AM

that's what i'm wondering about now too. i guess so, because otherwise the assigned wrist bands wouldn't make much sense. there'd be always a lot of people who'd go see sonic youth and/or the stooges twice.

if the 6000 and 3000 figures are really correct then it seems a bit strange to sell that many tickets though. even if the main acts would play twice, how about the bands playing on the even smaller stages? surely that would mean missing a lot of bands because the room they're playing is full.... unless it's actually each and every band playing twice like jon boy wrote in the first post.

jennthebenn 09.11.2006 09:45 AM

how unnecessarily complicated. no matter how it
turns out, i shall rebel by drinking american
beer during the performances and in the chalets!

pokkeherrie 09.11.2006 10:30 AM

sonic youth's myspace now lists them as playing on the 8th and 9th at atp.

jon boy 09.12.2006 02:54 AM

hhhmmmm this is gonna get messy.

sonicl 09.12.2006 03:07 AM

The major tickets agencies are:

Ticketmaster
Ticketweb
Stargreen
Wegottickets
Seetickets

I'm sure there are loads of other good ones, but that's all I can think of right now.

You could always take the opportunity to drink something that isn't utterly shit, seeing as you won't be able to get it back home. Just a thought like.

Pah, I say. I'm sure there's a decent ale house in Minehead. You don't need none of this fancy-dancy continental stuff.

Katy 09.12.2006 12:32 PM

As long as Iggy's there, I will be happier than the proverbial pig-in-shit.

wax 09.12.2006 12:32 PM

that sounds like a bag of shit.
selling 6000 tickets when the biggest hall can only take 3000.
sure, alot of the bands arnet gonna get 6000 people coming to see them, but it sounds like it could be a bit packed half the time, and i seriously dont trust these atp people to make a decent schedule for three stages.
they made a shit schedule the first time i went to atp.
if all this is true, then it sounds like they are getting too big for their boots.
i can see atp going downhill once the focus changes from great music to MONEY and great music.
im a bit drunk so so i cant tell if im overreacting.

I can only see myself being slightly worried if any of the bands I really want to see clash with each other. So long as Brottzman, NNCK, SY and NWW play at different times, I can worry about my own scheduling at will.
