films that make you cry
so i just saw floatingslowly and atsonicpark weeping over grave of the fireflies in another thread, and truly that is a sad movie.
what other films never fail to make you cry? lion king (when scar says its simba's fault his dad is dead) and jurassic park (when they first see the dinosaurs EMO!) do it for me every time. though i have been known to cry during britain's got talent so a film making me cry means very little... |
Oh Brother Where Art Thou, Requiem for a Dream that's all I can think of right now

grave of the fireflies is really really sad i watched UP the other day and hot damn, the first 10 minutes of it were a chokefest, as robinstigator had predicted elsewhere. |
yeah i heard up is a real heartbreaker - not seen it myself though.

Oh man we have this in work for the kids to watch - it is genuinely terrifying... |
Yeah, Grave of the Fireflies is roooough.
Um, House of D is the only one I can think of at this exact moment that actually had me going to tears. That part at the end, at the airport. I dunno, just gets me. Good call on Up, what a down beginning. |

Which part? Was it when the dude bends the chick over and fucks her at dinner? I laughed so much I might have cried there. Haha. Seriously though -- great film. I think SYMPATHY is a bit more powerful, all in all. All the Requiem for a Dream stuff listed here makes me scratch my head. I thought everyone got what they deserved. A bunch of insane druggies getting what they deserve. Er, unless people were crying over the bad acting (except the old chick, who was excellent, though her story didn't interest me). Has anyone ever noticed Jared Leto either gets killed, goes to prison, REALLY beat up, or something gets chopped off in nearly every movie he's in? Basically, people cast him in roles where something really really bad happens to him. It's understandable. Let's see... A SCENE AT THE SEA was pretty powerful and may have made me cry. EUREKA probably made me cry. Japanese films usually resonate with me emotionally because they're so powerful. I have cried over a few Simpsons episodes, also, if that counts. |
Bambi. Also my favourite film, in spite of going downhill very quickly after 'that scene'.
|
Beverly Hills Ninja - When Chris Farley's character is not rewarded with a medallion, yet everyone else in his ninja class is. His face turns so quickly from eagerness and excitement to dismay - it crushes my heart.
Jack - When Robin Williams is on the playground and nobody wants to play with him. This really takes me back. Sad, sad shit. That's about it though. |
jon jost's films don't make me cry but they're usually so POWERFUL that I feel completely drained afterwards.
