I am writing an article on Sonic Youth in the next couple of weeks and I am looking to get quotes from fans about Sonic Youth's influence on music, and why, as fans, they are personally important to you, and how they have inspired you either musically, or otherwise.

Sonic Youth is old. Noise is dead.

For me, it all started with The Sprawl and Cross the Breeze from Daydream Nation. Those songs evoke emotions that no other music evokes. While some music is happy, sad, angry, fun, etc., I had no idea what this feeling was, but it was powerful as hell. It was as if these feelings were always inside me, but it took this music to help me recognize them.

who told you you could find people who like sonic youth here?

i hate that stuff they do with their guitars, but i really like that shirt with the tiger on it thurston wears. that's why i like sonic youth. the tshirts.
