Four Confirmed Dead in DC Metro Crash

This hits home. When the car just won't suffice, both Panto and myself are regular riders on the red line.

This picture is fucking insanity.

as with an airplane crash, underground train wreck ranks low on my "ways I'd like to die" list.

statistically yr still safer than taking the car.

if I could, I'd get rid of mine.

jennthebenn 06.22.2009 06:47 PM

It's a very safe mode of transportation. And when I move to Montgomery
County in a couple months, I look forward to more rides on the Metro.

You couldn't pay me to drive a car.

floatingslowly 06.22.2009 06:50 PM

I have to drive 15-20 minutes just to get anywhere.

I hate it.

cars were the worst invention ever. nuke bombs are safer.

senor robot - public transport isn't all it's cracked up to be sometimes - but I speak as one who has recently taken the "tube" stone cold sober at night, and realised just how many fellow Lahdaners are pished at thaet time of day. Which is nice.

My friends and I visit DC all the time... ride the orange line from New Carrollton inward. I could never have pictured anything like this happening. I'll still ride it and all, but damn I feel bad for those who have lost their lives.

pantophobia 06.22.2009 07:44 PM

currently at 6 dead, been kinda listening to some dc fire band radio on the progress, could go higher after they finish searching the wreckage, and how 6 people who are in critical condition do in the hospital

just fucked up all around, you'd think with the amount of tech and gps, you think conductors would know what train is on what line and avoid this kinda stuff

phoenix 06.22.2009 09:21 PM

erugh. :( Train wrecks. For some reason though, I still feel a hell of a lot safer on trains than I do on a plane.. Even when the train is kind of rickety-racking along and loud.

half of them are probably antipodean drunks anyway. On one of time's I caught it late night, one Oz guy trying to explain to a northern england girl what the 'ridgy didge' hand sign meant brought out laughs and 'ridgy didge' hand gestures in the rest of the carriage who were evidently oz/nz'ers. She was the only brit in the carriage of 5 people.

!@#$%! 06.22.2009 09:36 PM
