Usually I'm not into vampires and stuff. . .
But this new show on HBO True Blood seems pretty interesting. The basic premise is that vampires have always existed, and many of them have just "come out of the coffin" and are trying to join normal society because there is a major breakthrough- something called trublood. It is synthesized blood sold in liquor stores that allows vampires to stay alive without killing anyone.
Also, some humans hunt vampires for their blood because drinking vampire blood elevates your sensory perception, greatly improves sexual performance, and heals illness and wounds. |
as soon as i tuned into that show, i saw some dude fucking a chick from behind and him talking about her fucking some vampire.

I DVR'd the first episode, but I haven't watched it yet......I love vampires.

haha that scene is great, did you notice he was erotically asphyxiating her? |
this sounds interesting

I think the vampires seem too Hollywood/L.A. if that makes any sense.

Vampires. I'm sick of them.
Not that I ever cared for them. The stupid Twilight books though...and then the stupid little perpetually pre-teen'd youth who now obsess over them. Anne Rice is rolling in her coffin. |
LOL at Anne Rice rolling in her coffin. (She's still alive!)
The show is dark, but it strays away from the Gothic style. The main vampire's name is Bill. And the first vampire you see (not Bill) is a total hick. |
Interview With the Vampire has always been one of my favorite movies.
Check out Brian Lumley's Necroscope series if you're into vampires....I've read them all. |
they turned vampires into social commentary. :(
|
Everything turns into social commentary eventually
|
I believe that Anne Rice was in the promotional video talking about the history and different styles of vampires.
They were talking about the characteristics of various media vampires and 'real' ones and how True Blood's are similar and not. It was a good show, I didn't want to have cable tv but I think I'll probably keep it for this and Mythbusters. Luckily, HBO seems to be included in the lowest tier. I'm not a big fan of paying $$$ for entertainment. |

I blame society. |
I saw the first episode last Sunday and thought it was pretty intresting. They always say any series with vampires is going to be sexy and this being HBO they are going to show lots a of sex, probobly none of it actually with Anna Paquin unfortunately, the hot stars of shows never do nudity. Hope "True Blood" doesn't become the next "John From Cinncinati" and only gets one season.

It's not as good as it could be. It's a bit campy and one-dimensional. I was expecting more, especially since this guy created Six Feet Under.
However, I did just pick up a couple of the books by Charlaine Harris that the series is based on. I think the books are better. |
