Oh yeah, Coachella

Headliners suck, but I guess it is pretty good. They raised the prices to $270 though.

Also there are going to be a few additions later on. Anyone else going?

✌➬ 01.21.2008 09:34 PM

Not I, I rather pay for U2.

afterthefact 01.21.2008 09:36 PM

Yeah, Coachella looks like a big mis this year. They have to do something about that price too, I wouldn't have that kind of money to see that many bands that I like.

Everyneurotic 01.21.2008 10:11 PM

yeah, when jack "white reggae" johnson is headlining, you know things aren't right.

what happened to the mbv reunion?

if i'm going to a festival outside of mexico, is going to be no fun fest.

Sheriff Rhys Chatham 01.21.2008 10:14 PM

Theres' some really good shit there though.

Yeah, I know. People bitch are going apeshit over the headliners on the message boards, but there is so much good stuff there too. As if Coachella was all about the headliners.

I can't wait.

Cantankerous 01.21.2008 11:08 PM

yeah i'll definitely be skipping out on that one this year.

Everyneurotic 01.21.2008 11:25 PM

actually, why are spiritualized one of the small font names? that's easily the best band on the whole three days.

by the way, if someone is going, DO NOT MISS austin tv, i highly recommend them, don't know if their stuff can translate right into a big stage with a midday festival crowd. ace band, though.

pbradley 01.21.2008 11:38 PM

Yeah, I think Portishead and Spiritualized are the only two I would like to see. Maybe The Breeders and the Verve and Kraftwerk but to a lesser extent.

Cantankerous 01.21.2008 11:48 PM

Spiritualized were fucking awesome as well as portishead but that's not enough to make me pay fucking $270 for this shit.

davenotdead 01.22.2008 12:14 AM

Holy Fuck! Holy Fuck is playing, but yeah, i would not pay that. no.

davenotdead 01.22.2008 12:21 AM

Id pay for AC, Battles, Akron/Family, Man Man, Holy Fuck, Portishead, the Field, and id maybe check out Kraftwerk, Spank Rock and others for kicks...but i dont think its strong enough... they needed at least one big headliner.

Cantankerous 01.22.2008 01:02 AM

i'd pay for the breeders, roger waters, animal collective, portishead, MIA, akron/family, spiritualized, possibly the verve, and that's about it. last year was fucking awesome but no way in hell am i going this year.

flophousefloozie 01.22.2008 01:10 AM

There are some good bands sprinkled throughout the whole show. I'd love to see Kraftwerk.

Ha, Roger Waters Dark Side. I don't feel bad for all the suckers who paid $200+ to see him when he toured.

Cantankerous 01.22.2008 01:45 AM

roger waters is my favourite member of pink floyd
however, $200 is outrageous
i wouldn't pay $50

Alex's Trip 01.22.2008 09:17 AM

I'm in it for:

Animal Collective
Vampire Weekend
MIA
Justice
Battles
Akron/Family
Architecture in Helsinki
The Breeders
Múm
Pendulum
Kraftwerk
Spiritualized
etc

Also, it is a lot of fun to start checking out all the bands that you haven't heard of. Like, I started listening to Holy Fuck and it was pretty awesome. I probably will see them. Plus, it'll be nice to chill out side of the crowds for some of the bigger acts, like Roger Waters, and Portishead.

Also, it is receiving very poor reactions, so hopefully ticket sales will be low and they will add something better for a headliner, which is basically what happened with Daft Punk in 2006.

_slavo_ 01.22.2008 09:20 AM

The National for me. But however I'd possibly get drunk and pass out before the start of their set (as it happened to me a year ago with The Pixies).
