No Country For Old Men

I saw it tonight. It was really good.

Anton Chigurh is the scariest psycho I've ever seen in a film.

I saw it on Wednesday night. Crazy stuff. I liked it a lot.

And I'm excited for There Will Be Blood. I don't know why I associate those movies together so closely.

This simpleton guy comes across a briefcase with 2 million in it. Mexican gangsters hire a psycho killer to track him down. The psycho killer and groups of Mexican thugs indepenently keep the guy on the run.

Incredibly suspenseful. I was on edge the whole movie.

Those are exactly the sort of people you shouldn't see this movie with.

Why?

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 11.24.2007 04:17 AM

When you say "my friends that like violent movies," I think of the kind of people who see violent movies just for the violence. I think they'd be either the kind of people who'd love it for the wrong reasons or the kind of people who would talk about how they thought (insert incredibly violent but intellectually unstimulating film here) was better.

pbradley 11.24.2007 05:01 AM

My friends are brighter than that. They wouldn't be my friends if they were so intellectually shortsighted. I meant that they aren't prudes about violence. The first time I saw American Psycho was with them and they loved it for the right reasons.

val-holla-ing 11.24.2007 11:19 AM

If I see a movie it is most definitely nationwide.

Other movies I want to see coming out or that came out this year:

Juno
There Will Be Blood
Before the Devil Knows Your Dead
Dan In Real Life (my sister said it is funny)

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 11.24.2007 03:44 PM

It is definitely the best film I've seen in theatres since. . . umm. . . umm. . . I don't think I've seen a better movie in theatres. (sorry Michel Gondry, Wes Anderson, Woody Allen, etc.)

SynthethicalY 11.25.2007 02:52 AM

I am going to go see Juno, it looks funny as hell.

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 11.25.2007 03:30 PM

fo sho

atari 2600 11.25.2007 03:41 PM

It's gonna be between this one and Rescue Dawn for best picture of the year. At least in my mind; screw the Academy (AMPAS).

First mentioned at the board by me here:
http://www.sonicyouth.com/gossip/sho...2&postcount=70

Other particularly strong showings include 3:10 to Yuma, The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters and Control.

I got to see an advance of the great Sidney Lumet's new one, Before the Devil Knows You're Dead, at our Virginia Film Festival also.

I'm looking forward to Cassandra's Dream by Woody Allen.

I suppose this will be someone's cue to start a best films of 2007 thread.

Rob Instigator 11.26.2007 10:00 AM

i have had odd dreams abotu Chigurr for the past two days after seeing ths miovie.

I don;t know about describing the guy who finds money as a "simpleton" though.
more like a quiet reserved good ol boy.
