Favorite TV network?

have been thinking about how TV sucks, then it made me think what is actually worth the time to check out

ESPN has gotten under my skin, I think they can be the best, but are quickly becoming an entity onto itself and are trying to dictate where the sporting world go (IE watch NBA, AFL ,and such, and jumping on the UFC bandwagon), and if they don't have it, they will relegate it to the basement, they are becoming the next MTV, they are gonna fall quickly in credibility if they aren't careful

the best network is the Discovery Channel hands down now, it has Mythbusters, Deadliest Catch, How it's Made, and one week every summer they run Shark Week, also quite cool their world headquarters is down in Silver Spring on Georgia Ave. actually now with the new building, during summer they attach a gigantic shark head to the building

Discovery is good. I like Mythbusters and I lazily watched a documentary on the killer humboldt squid today.

Comedy Central is good too.

challenge tv because it shows knightmare

Danny Himself 05.29.2007 03:07 PM

Challenge shows Takeshi's Castle too, and Fort Boyárd..

So many fortification-themed game shows.

Court TV is the channel I watch most of, if the TV is on...I like VH1 Classic too, but I don't have it at home.

LifeDistortion 05.29.2007 03:52 PM

I really never watch television anymore
It makes me most angry when I do.

Although radio is worse...people shouting at you in annoying voices. Everything with television is made to be so fucking great and exciting. Quiz shows are introduced like the god damn second coming of Christ. I can no longer tolorate the adverts either.... I'll watch all the shows I want on TV-LINKS thank you very much.

CHOUT 05.29.2007 04:30 PM

I'm in the habit of muting commercials when I watch tv now. But yeah, alot of tv pisses me off too.

TV is one of humanity's worst inventions. It has caused unimaginable damage to society. It's the primary tool that has accelerated the commoditisation of every atom that can be grabbed.

That would be the magical combination of human greed and human gullibility. Individuals en masse (!?) are to blame; they could refuse the influence, if they could be bothered.

I like proper ducumentaries. I don't give a stuff about 'drama-docs', nor about so-called wildlife dicumentaries that are set in safari parks or zoos. That's just lazy.

I like the National Geographic channels, and there's some good stuff on a lot of the other documentary networks. We have a recent habit in this country of making cheap but very entertaining programmes about the industrial revolution. Usually they are presented by comedians, for some reason

Phlegmscope 05.29.2007 05:55 PM

I don't own a television set, and I have no idea what's on it nowadays. Whenever I visit my moms place I might tune in and watch something, but to me it seems that the tv channels around here can only get shittier. The only exception is YLE teema, which shows lots of culture related quality programs. But yeah, I have no use for a tv.

SynthethicalY 05.29.2007 06:04 PM

History channel when it doesn't show anything related to Hitler.
Science Channel
Cartoon Network
PBS
KCET
Umm that is it I think.

schizophrenicroom 05.29.2007 06:08 PM

current

PBS, usually the first thing I'll turn to when watching, sometimes Discovery Channel too.

FSC (Fox Soccer Channel) as well.

Not a lot of quality television now that I think about it.

I think I saw that documentary (can't be sure though, there are many killer squid docs). Shit was scary.

Washing Machine 05.29.2007 06:53 PM

As long as I have an internet connection i see no use in owning a television. I do of course own one but i havent turned it on in in months. I fact I think ist probebly broken.

On saying that I used to love watching QVC simply to laugh my arse off.

Damn right.

"Humboldt Squid have over a thousand suction cups, each with 30 teeth in them!"

Alex's Trip 05.29.2007 07:12 PM

The footage of them was pretty creepy. All black, except for the camera light (which was pretty dim too), and then out of no where some squids (larger than humans) bolt across the screen out of no where.

Danny Himself 05.29.2007 07:13 PM

I was creeped out by how they can flash from white to red. And they have beaks.

pantophobia 05.29.2007 07:23 PM

i am just suprised it took until 2 years ago until a live giant squid was even filmed
