Seriously, NO notifications. I can't be the only one, so 'fess up...

i don't use that function, but maybe related to your problem, last time i made a post it took forever to update things, and i think i spotted some duplicate posts as well. so we might be starting to have database problems again, and your issue is one symptom

I am now getting notifications of messages posted days/weeks ago.

Probably server issues.

today I received notifications for new messages that were posted on July 29 :confused:

haven't received any notifications since August ????
was thinking it may be related because I moved to a new house around that time, and all notifications are sent to my old address :D

what do you get notifications for?

Well, we don't at the moment because there's some kind of problem which hopefully won't get worse and lead to a website breakdown like the one we had, when was it, three years ago or so? Those were the dark ages, man... Yeah, so to answer your question: we received email notifications when there was a new post on a thread we were subscribed to. And how do you subscribe to a thread? By posting on it, or starting a new one, or simply by going to Thread Tools -> Subscribe.

Currently I'm subscribed to 1,045 threads. Dunno if that's a lot, but it's never meant I got my email inbox flooded with shit because this place hasn't exactly been overflowing with activity for a long time, you follow.

it seems like, as of earlier today, the email notifications are working again

I got an avalanche of old notifications yesterday. Today I haven't received any new ones.
