Inspiring Writers and Poets ?
 

Im going to the library again soon and wanted some suggestions on readn material that will really stir me up. What books have really inspired you guys ? that you've re-read a bunch or just taken a lot back from.

inspired for sex, murder, rampage, or the monastic life?

The Perks of Being a Wallflower, right now I am reading Last Exit to Brooklyn.

In high school I did a report on Langston Hughes and fell in love with his poetry. He's definately one of my favorites.

dont bother with the perks of being a wallflower.
just read dracula, it is really good and highly recommened!

I got bored of reading Dracula, might read it again just to see if I missed out something.

well i still don't know what kind of inspiration he is seeking. perhaps this kind?

For me, I think the first time reading Frank O'Hara was a real eye-opener, but that seems like a long time ago. Of course my writing does not reflect this at all, but what can you do you know? Anyway I got bored with all of the standard creative writing stuff, especially poetry, I just can't stand writing it anymore. I like to write but there are some things I just can't deal with. I'd rather write analysis essays for my Lit class than write poetry again. I think essays are one of my strong points.

I am shocked there is a 2nd edition.

Just like textbooks, they change the cover for more money.
Of course vintage books are the best.

not always. i like to read in bed, and filthy old books that shed particles aren't exactly great in the sack.

That is why you have two books, the first edition, and the latest one. I mean come on.

I don't think I've even seen an edition of that book that has Hitler's face on the cover. The one posted in this thread makes it seem like you're supposed to pick it up and go, "Now there's an honest-looking man, I just might have to buy this!" It's that old.

Anyway, so long as we're posting book covers I would like to put this one out there. I own it, and it is riveting.
