Brilliant bagpipe action!

Over the past year I've been playing bagpipes with Lee Ranaldo on guitar in our trio Glacial. Lee has such a big, slow sense of scale that initially it felt all wrong to me, like bad music. I didn't realise at first how much he was listening and reacting to what was going on. It made me rethink. It was like driving an 18-wheeler when you're used to a bicycle.

how often has this lineup actually played out? I saw the duo once at Tonic and tried once at some art gallery until I got bored waiting around...

They appear to have played at Tonic in October 1999 ("Lee performed a set with Loren Mazzacane Connors, then they were joined by David Watson on bagpipes and Jim Pugliese on drums. Loren left the stage at the remaining 3 played a set as well (apparently they're called Glacial?)"), in France in July 2003 ("David Watson "Glacial", avec Lee Ranaldo et Tony Buck"), once at Gigantic Art Space, New York in November 2005 (?).

Interestingly, David Watson's bookings page lists as forthcoming a CD with Lee Ranaldo, named "Glacial": http://www.harvestworks.org/ccs/0099.html.

The show I saw at Tonic was Lee, TONY BUCK & DAVID WATSON on 6 Apr 05...

That page was last updated in 2003 so I would not rise my expectations about the CD.

Aww, Bertrand - I thought you were going to say that you were at the French show in 2003!

this is even beter than that one AC/DC song with bagpipes. there should be more bagpipes in rock/noise, and more rock/noise in marching bands...
