Recommend me something scummy.

I'm desperate for something new. I have all the PG stuff, the first White Zombie album, Gallon Drunk, Action Swingers, Dwarves, Birthday Party. God, i'm even dabbling in a little GG Allin. I just can't find anything else in that vein. I'm looking for something totally racket-like and unashamedly Rock n Roll at heart.

The Goslings.

demonrail666 03.17.2007 06:26 PM

Ew I just heard their Myspace stuff. Sounds pretty good. Thanks.

sarramkrop 03.17.2007 06:32 PM

I was about to link you up to them. They're awesome.

I don't know if this would qualify as "scummy," but they're fucking messy, and fucking rad.

That's getting closer. But come on Sarram, you know me better than that! I'm a very simple man at heart. Think Pussy Galore covering GG Allin; that's my ideal.

Hey, maybe I should just see sense and start that band myself.

sarramkrop 03.17.2007 06:51 PM

Have you listened to Devil's Night on The Does's myspasticspace? That's dirty rock n roll.

Thanks, but that's veering far too close to something Steve Malkmus or Lou Barlow would do with some friends for my liking.

Listening to it right now. I obviously turned it off the first time before it really had a chance to kick in. This does sound better. It's still not really what I had in mind but very good nonetheless.

Dirty/vulgar is a very high priority. Damn, I can't find any mention of them anywhere apart from a reference to some split 7" they've done.

Have you read Lisa Carver's book Drugs are Nice? That has some great anecdotes about her meeting GG. The section describing a conversation she has with at a bus station is incredible.

Cardinal Rob 03.17.2007 07:44 PM

Haha, I have two Gallon Drunk singles. Have you heard the Grinderman s/t yet? And you also can't get much scummier than some gerogerigegege.
