The Nirvana Thread

We very much need this thread, so here it is. Post anything on your mind about Kurt and Co.

To start off. Bleach > Nevermind.

MESSAGE FOR CHABIB: Given all of our opinions on Nirvana, some humourous and less serious, where do you think this should go? I meant to put it in the Non-Sonic Sonics.

Jt 03.21.2006 10:02 PM

For a start, I'm ALMOST inclined to agree with you.

Ultimately though, if you want a song-orientated album, I reckon Nevermind has it. But artistically, hell yeah, Bleach is the god. I for one prefer it.

Predictable reply?

marleypumpkin 03.21.2006 10:03 PM

The very first band I got into, besides The Beatles when I was young.

schizophrenicroom 03.21.2006 10:04 PM

Same here. I was obsessed with the Beatles when I was young.

Jt 03.21.2006 10:07 PM

Why stop with youth? I'm still obsessed. For me, they're not just some phase, y'know... on the one hand, you can listen to the most obscure/out-there alternative shit, but... you've got to appreciate the brilliance of their stuff. Even now, I listen to A Day In The Life and just think... "fuck."

marleypumpkin 03.21.2006 10:09 PM

The Beatles will always be the best band ever. No doubt in my mind.

marleypumpkin 03.21.2006 10:11 PM

Schizo- Do you have any rare Beatles stuff?

Jt 03.21.2006 10:12 PM

Yeah, but... don't you think a lot of people are losing sight of that?

Increasingly it's all about which band are wearing the tightest jeans and t-shirts and playing the best three chords, as opposed to at least ACKNOWLEDGING the huge contribution to music and art that they represented.

schizophrenicroom 03.21.2006 10:14 PM

Marley- Nope :(

Very well put, no one realizes that The Beatles are the foundation of transcendence in music. They're not one type of music.

Jt 03.21.2006 10:17 PM

I don't know; it just seems almost like they're ridiculed now instead of held up as icons. "Ohhh, my dad listens to them..." Fuck off, y'know?

I wear tighter jeans and t-shirts than anyone.

I am god.

Jt 03.21.2006 10:18 PM

I wear mine BENEATH my skin. So smoke it, hard and fast.

Everyneurotic 03.21.2006 10:20 PM

the shitty beatles? are they any good?

nir-who? never heard of them, are they on american tapes or load or hanson?

Jt 03.21.2006 10:23 PM

Maaan, I'm not a play-thing just to be pissed off at will, y'know... :(

I'm going to bed anyway. I might listen to the White(y) album a while first though. Being the artistic masterstroke that it is. Adios.

HaydenAsche 03.21.2006 10:23 PM

LOAD is teh almighty record label.

Everyneurotic 03.21.2006 10:28 PM

maybe they have released stuff thru deathbomb arc or chocolate monk

Inhuman 03.21.2006 10:31 PM

I think Nirvana's lesser known stuff is a little better than the well known stuff. Songs like Marigold and Something's in the Way are what really get to me. Kurt was a genius

HaydenAsche 03.21.2006 10:33 PM

I really dug the box set. Nevermind was a decent album. None of their stuff really appeals to me anymore though.

Ooh- I'd love some Revolver demos. PM me the details!

marleypumpkin 03.21.2006 10:44 PM

Question, Do you want them sent track by track?

schizophrenicroom 03.21.2006 10:46 PM

Sure.

Flen flyys 03.22.2006 01:40 AM

My very favorite band until I heard Kristin Hersh and her bands.

krastian 03.22.2006 01:44 AM

Ha....I just got back from a party and I suggested In Utero and by God we listened to it.....it's been awhile.....I take pride as the king of illiterature.

as far as were this thread should go. on the nirvana forum!

guitarpro 03.22.2006 09:28 AM

I love Nirvana I'm still a big fan. Kurt was a great song writer. Nirvana did and always will kick ass.

Hannah 03.22.2006 09:52 AM

Lets just keep this as one very long thread instead of a million different moderately sized nirvana threads. That way everyone wins.

About five years ago I was obsessed with them. Complelety. It goes though.

shentov 03.25.2006 04:48 AM

i love Nirvana. i have a Nirvana tattoo. ha!

soupisgoodfood 03.25.2006 04:59 AM

Nirvana kicks ass (hey, check out my avatar)

krastian 03.25.2006 05:04 AM

Yeah, you still can't fuck with Nirvana.

IntoTheGroovey 03.25.2006 05:48 AM

I like about half their songs and hate bout half of them. I can't stand Kurt's voice sometimes.

marleypumpkin 03.25.2006 06:59 AM

I have a Nirvana interview I could upload. If anyone's interested that is. Just say the word, & I'll get right to it.

marleypumpkin 03.25.2006 07:09 AM

I don't know what year the interview was done, but there are some interesting little snip-its of musical history in this interview. I believe it's a 45 min. long interview.

RIPfrey05 03.25.2006 07:54 AM

YAYAYYA!!!
Dude... in utero and bleach and incesticide are like some of the best albums ever..if nirvana would have continued in the direction they were going their next album after in utero would have been the best album ever..man theyre such a great band.. so talented and such energy is rare.

marleypumpkin 03.25.2006 08:22 AM

I am getting right to work, just as I promised. Thanks for requesting.

marleypumpkin 03.25.2006 10:33 AM

I like Nirvana too. I especially love 'All Apologies', and I especially like that acoustic version of 'All Apologies'.

schizophrenicroom 03.25.2006 12:12 PM

I really love "About A Girl" unplugged. That has to be my favorite Nirvana song.
