Getting Up Late for Work
How do you feel about it? I haven't been late for work in a while. When I have, it's always been a mess and risked the sack, which was fun. If you have stories about oversleeping share them here.
|
Is it too early (:)) for symbol guy to remind us that he's his own boss? Just checking.
|
what day is it?
|
I'm a good boy. I don't think I've ever been late for work.
|
have never been late at work..i ll say less than a handful of times during my 16 yrs of slavery.
one i remember in my first job. there was a transportation strike and i was stuck in my car waiting to enter parking area, for 2 hours just below my office. |

nah! here's a reminder it's 625 am but i'm going back to bed :P |
why 'but'?

because im up early for the first time in a long time and it's dark and cold and it sucks to be out of bed ps- dont know why a finger appeared here. it's gone now. not me. |
em i meant its too early and you should sleep.
|
i just woke up like that for no reason. definitely not on purpose.
i had a dream that i was in college studying economics! and the cat is running around the house, the little bastard. i love him and all but he's a complete fucker. |
I have been sick once in 6 years and told my boss the previous day, which makes me very angry about all the pregnancies we get in the building. Babies ruin economies and distract people. I am almost always on time if not early. When I'm late, I'm just feeling a bit la di da about life.
|
when im late it usually means i'm late delivering. this can be a pain in the ass, and to avoid it i've had to pull many all-nighters. i really can't just fill up a seat at work--- if i don't do work i simply don't eat. not eating sucks. also: late with the rent sucks shit. oh shit: pink bills. i hate them.
|
I feel humiliated when I am actually productive, instead of faking it very well.
|
i didnt see any finger.
dont wanna go off topic. BUTT. i was in a sort of job interview and the guy said a couple of dodgy things: 'with this crisis the men survived, the boys no. we (his company) are the MEN'. i was busy being surprised at what he said and trying to swallow my coffee vomit. then he said smth about fb and life status etc. that your boss cant see you partying etc, he might fire you because of the life you lead in your own time. 'you can be a trans in the weekend and then be a suit during weekdays. or drink bottles of booze etc. but do your work' (ehm do you know me?) yeah i said, no probs with that right? |

this. should be carved somewhere. |

see, im jealous of talented people like you. it was quentin crisp i think that valued professions that required being over making. e.g to be an actor, celebrity etc you get paid to be yourself and look amazing. but to be a painter requires you to do actual work and get dirty in the process, to be a writer requires you to hold a bad posture for hours, etc. unfortunately i lack the talent to be paid to be, and i have to make things. which is clearly inferior. |
for free is dead.
(smth i say with my friends, because we dont have money or some much money anymore - even though we dont follow that line. we still do/give things for free). |

I got asked a couple of times how I find the time to be creative outside of work. I find the time because it's precisely something I don't view as work, it's moments when I feel really happy about doing anything, I still wouldn't want it to be a full time thing though. The idea of full time creativity doesn't cut it with me because I am alright feeling anonymous without feeling like I am struggling artist. The friction I get from withdrawals makes me more driven and hateful of certain lifestyles. |
@ nefeli re: job intevier. what a douchebag! i can picture him in my mind.
------- anyway-- i think im gonna make breakfast and watch german football. yes, i am lowbrow like that. |

i'm going to leave you with this wonderful book cover. ![]() which i highly recommend |

Love that book! Didn't Quentin Crisp master the art of being late so gracefully? |
I forgot to mention that this thread should be read and replied to while listening to a soundtrack that Nefeli kindly provided.

^ yay.
and i should read Quentin Crisp, or probably paint him. Quote:
people who ask that question, cant understand that these things are what keep you sane. i mean thats how i viewed it. also its not just having fun, it is a need. you need to do these things. im certain you feel the same. if i knew, or felt that i was a big talent, i might let myself be tempted to say fuck it all, i ll try my luck with art. bt nevermind that. there is also the belief that when you are an artist with day job, the hard time you have to find time to do your art, is what makes it sweet and worth it and that it might play some role for you making good art. i understand this, but i m not sure if its true. it might vary, depending on the person. |
I am punctual almost to the point of obsession. I don't even need an alarm, and can typically wake up by the minute that I'm supposed to.
sharing a car with pregnant lady ruins all of this. prying her from a warm bed, making sure she's dressed and ready, and beating traffic is a near-daily trial. Quote:
this is something that I wish I could pattern. I simply cannot find the time to do art, make mixes, or do anything really beyond work, dinner, excercise, and the quiet decline of the day with my wife and Dr. Who. it's 10pm most days before I'm allowed a sigh of relief. I want to paint and I want to make mixes. I could do that now, but I'm off to clean dishes, and go for a long walk. bah. |
Death, i m afraid i am a beard hunter after all.
i was looking at pics of Jim Morrison ( as you know i am the female him) and the moment i saw some with longer hair and beard, i got all excited. yeah, i hate waking up late for work. |

I overslept quite a bit and then I realized that I have a problem. I went for a sleep study and realized that I have sleep apnea. It was probably the biggest problem in my life for a long time. |
^ I'm an awful person when it comes to waking up. I too....like to wake up in stages. I'm normally around 4 7-minute snoozes...heh...
Actually...Peltor. I think yer right when you say "Waking up a minute before the alarm goes off is my indicator that I'm getting proper rest". When I just work, I am very on time with my sleeping schedule...but once something(school for example) comes into play and my time is really being eaten up by stuffs, then waking up is the hardest thing to do for me... |
I tried that, once upon a time ago, and found it a cruel tease.
