Les Paul, music genius, dead at 94 By Don Walker of the Journal Sentinel Posted: Aug. 13, 2009 11:18 a.m. Les Paul, the Waukesha-born genius who rose to become one of the most influential musicians in the 20th century, has died at the age of 94. ![]() |
can't say it was unfair, he was around for awhile.

WTF, will you "good guys" please stop falling like leaves (ok, old leaves, but still...)???

a shot i took from a few years back with Lee playing a Les Paul, it is quite a nice guitar, such a classic design

because evil people live longer. true story. (not that living to be 94 is anything to be upset about) rip les |
Farewell sweet fretboard-overlording prince. :(

It's what I play, rest in peace.

Nice long innings.
RIP Les. |
My friend has a Les Paul and I play on it quite regularly. I love it. It's such a perfectly designed guitar, really. Such a pure instrument. This is so sad. Fuck.
|
Andy Kessler died too.
Farewell father of fretless wonder. |
Too bad, but he had a long, extremely influential life. That makes me wonder is L Fender still alive? I like his guitars better. Never found one I liked more than a telecaster.

So, a stronger reason for wishing to have a LP.
Thanks for all, Mr. Paul. Rest In Peace. salu2. STJ. KORITFW! |

I love laying down the heavy licks on my friend's Les Paul.

its like Ozzy said, " Don't believe the life you have will be the only one You have to let your body sleep to let your soul live on" nefs igziar yimareh! (God Bless the Soul) Les Paul didn't single-handedly invent the electric guitar, but he pioneered many new elements to its design which gave us the bad ass guitars of today. thanks les paul, where would we guitar playing junkies be without you? also, he pioneered elements of multi-track recording in its infancy, and as I am going into the studio soon, and playing around in my bedroom on an 8 track (something I don't believe les paul or anyone would have imagined 50 years ago) I think we owe him that gratitude as well.. wonderful legacy, well deserved hero of modern music! |
i don't need to come up for air
|
Wow...although, if he was 94, I guess it was inevitable (it's inevitable for all of us, but we don't expect our peers to die of natural causes if we're younger than 60-something). RIP
As for the guitar, Les Pauls are awesome if you don't play higher than the 18th fret. After that, it gets a little cumbersome. I play all the way up to 22 sometimes, so I've got a Washburn Idol instead: ![]() |
I gotta say I love these double cut LPs. The normal ones don't do anything for me but these are awesome.

I wish they'd bring back the Les Paul DCs with humbuckers. P90s just don't have enough "oomph" for me.
|
Do they do the thing some telecasters do where they turn into a humbucker if you put them in the middle position? Cuz if they do that would be cool. If not, they should have one of them as a humbucker and one of them as a P90.
|
![]() I play this Epiphone LP. Appearance-wise, I just think the shape of it is perfect. It's really great to play, though I don't have much experience playing other guitars, since this one just seems to work so well. Anyway, RIP. |
RIP les, music owes so much to you.
|
Everything dies, now, baby, that's a fact...
