Do you have any dirt to share with us about your family members? It can be interesting or embarrasing, I don't care.

When she was a little girl my aunt Regina was kidnapped for 4 days by the "Black Hand." This was in Detroit in the 1930's and it was all over the news. She was returned to her family unharmed but the ransom was never paid.
I am Italian and Native American. We were always on the fringes of this kind of shit.

I have a great-uncle (maybe great-great) that was a midget wrestler.

For the longest time no one knew where my great-grandfather was for the 20 years right after he came to US....turns out there's a complete other family that he just left. Those Polish are tricky.

Re: floatslo, I'll see if I can find a picture. I think he's still alive, but in his late 80s by now. I can't remember if I've ever met him...but if memory serves, the picture I've seen he's wearing an olive green suit and derby.

My whole family is crazy or driven crazy by other family members.

Nothing all that embarrassing about my family. A cousin on my mom's side is kind of a trailer trash mother but I'm cool with that. Another cousin in Ohio is an earthmother organic hippie but she's awesome.

Really nothing I'm personally embarrassed by, except perhaps sometimes by my mother's enthusiastic socializing skills but that is a me-as-teenager complaint.

My father's side history include numerous lawyers, a judge, and a priest.

They're all pretty sane. Almost boring so.

Oh, and both my father and mother were investigated and kept under surveillance for years by the CIA for membership in the Puerto Rican nationalist party, who sought to achieve Puerto Rican independence.

my father's uncle is a retired 2 star general, commander of special forces from 84-88, and room mate of norman swartzkoff at west point

my great grandfather was killed in a coal mining accident. it took them two years to dig up his body. that's a lot of dirt.

But my mom was always pretty sure she wasn't born to at least one of her parents. Her mother and father never said anything though, and now her dad has passed away and her mother has dementia.

My dad's mother was always sure she wasn't born to her mother and father also, that she was abandoned by someone else ( I can't remember if it was a friend of the family or a near relation). My grandmother is so not of anglo decent, its fairly obvious in her features.. and somewhat moreso of a difference than just the maltese that is definately a little further back in the family history.

so my blood lines are kind of fucked, probably.

but aside from that, nothing interesting that Id want to share on here.

My uncle had a nervous breakdown 7 years ago...thought he was talking to Jesus and Mary in the backyard. Shock treatments, medication, etc. ensued. A few years ago he calmly remarked that he doesn't go the speed limit because it's too slow. Nowdays he's borderline catatonic.

My sister moved in with her lesbian lover at the beginning of the year. They intend to get married in CT in October. I'm happy for her, but she'll be dragging me and my parents 3 states away for a ceremony with a meaning that will be legally meaningless when they come back.

My sister recently got her period.

my great grandma went to prison for embezzlement in the 70s.
my parents never married. i'm a bastard.
on my dad's side i have two heroin addict uncles, my two aunts are/were both alcoholics, and my grandma was a gambling addict. on my mom's side my aunt was addicted to meth and coke but she got cancer and died when i was little.

that's the most interesting/"bad" things i can think of. i fucking love them all though.

according to historical records a significant portion of my family was killed when the Australia-bound ship they were travelling on caught fire and sank, killing all on board.

my brother did high school theatre. ha ha!

it's interesting all the genealogy stuff can be, like on my dad's side, one ancestor was a Colonel in the American Revolution and died at the Battle of Cowpens, and related distantly (like around 5 times removed or less) to Matthew Broderick and Jimmy Carter

My mom is a recovering alcoholic.
My grandma is a breast cancer survivor so she only has one boob.
My aunt had an abortion once.
My uncle is in his 50's and has a wife and kid that he never sees and has been living with his mom (uniboob) ever since I can remember.
My dad's aunt was in a few movies but you won't find her on Wikipedia.
My dad went to jail for resisting arrest.
My other uncle once went to jail for armed robbery (my dad's twin).


I guess that's it.

2 of my first cousins (dad's side) had sex (they're first cousins too) and now the chick is a full on bull dyke.

my grandpa (dad's dad) divorced his first wife to marry my grandmother that he'd never met (heard she was a genius) so they could make genius babies. it worked. they had 8 kids.

my uncle (mom's side) died last year. when my mom went to deal with his affairs in cali... the carpet was so saturated in dog piss that the carpet had to be pulled up.. which revealed maggots. srsly.
