Wow, nostalgia here.

The early Tom and Jerry shorts are my fave by a long shot, although I'm also quite partial to these critters:

I was really into it when Yogi got all of the animal characters together in the Flying Ark. That was so fucking over the top. Wally Gator rules.

fugazifan 12.31.2008 11:31 AM

i was always more partial to looney tunes
but i love HB
very much. is rocky and bullwinke theirs?

mangajunky 12.31.2008 11:58 AM

Hanna Barbera mostly sucks.
There are some exceptions but you have to go to the earliest days of TV and their theatrical shorts like Tom and Jerry.

for good cartoons see Chuck Jones, Bob Clampett, and Tex Avery (he made MGM cartoons like Hanna Barbera)

floatingslowly 12.31.2008 12:02 PM

my grandmother knew Barbera, but I was never a fan. not enough spaceships.

SuperCreep 12.31.2008 12:10 PM

ergh. HB animation annoys the piss out of me.

Florya 12.31.2008 12:22 PM

Talking of animation - When was the last time that Mickey Mouse or any of the traditional Disney characters were in a full length movie?
It's not a trick question, I honestly don't know.

Mickey Mouse mostly sucks too.

He was in Fantasia 2000 - that counts.

True.

ALL the characters were like family. Seriously !

Maybe my favorite was Jonny Quest. There were so many exotic adventures they went on...Here's Jonny, the blond kid in the rear..his best friend Hadji holding Bandit the Dog, Race Bannon piloting and Dr. Quest riding shotgun.

How many knew that 'Otter' from the movie Animal House was Jonny's voice in the cartoon ? I did !!! hahaha....
