What's the worst country you've ever visited?

I very rarely visit a country and really hate it, but sometimes you're just forced to accept the truth that some places really are just total fuckin' dumps.

screamingskull 06.08.2007 06:11 PM

didn't like the Netherlands, sorry.

screamingskull 06.08.2007 06:15 PM

It was dirty and full of prostitutes and i was 7 and my dad was annoying the whole time. Most of my family live there and in Antwerpen In Belgium, so we were visiting them.

demonrail666 06.08.2007 06:17 PM

I was less than impressed with Amsterdam myself.

screamingskull 06.08.2007 06:18 PM

Paris wasn't that great either. Smelt like eggs everywhere above ground and shit everywhere below ground, again i was 14 and my dad was annoying the whole time.

Danny Himself 06.08.2007 06:19 PM

Wales.

I went ice skating there once for my birthday. Bah.

16.9 million prostitutes to be exact.

demonrail666 06.08.2007 06:20 PM

Lol. Agree totally on Paris. Miserable place. Most overrated city in Europe.

!@#$%! 06.08.2007 06:21 PM

germany.

my apologies to germans, but the people at the frankfurt airport were so fucking rude i have no desire left to visit your country. it wasn't just one person.

this even though once upon a time i had a wonderful fling with a lovely girl from koln. but she was a strange creature and not representative of the population, i think.

Same thing happened to me in Canada, Vancouver is chock full of hookers and hobos.

I still choose Wales though.

Frankfurt in general is rubbish. Berlin's great though.

Miserable is a strong word, don't you think ? When was the last time you went to Paris ? It's cleaner than before. I don't say that 'cause I'm from Paris, I live here since 3 years, in quiet suburbs, I'm not a Parisian. And it's not so bad here.

dear god, it didn't occur to you to walk into a pastry shop, or a chocolatier? how about an ice cream parlor? there's this place, berthillon... ohhhhh mamamaaaaaaaa. how about some crepes? even a simple sandwich is the best, i was sick one day & my friend went & got me a jambon beurre from the corner store, it was so good.

brie and st andre and most soft cheeses arent smelly; and the smelly ones smell SO GOOD. you guys have stilton, but the french have roquefort and bleu d'auvergne and reblochon and such wonderful stench.

about the girls, i hanged out around la sorbonne and the girls were so cute with their scarves, i was in love every 5 minutes.

sarramkrop 06.08.2007 06:47 PM

Paris is a great place. Just because your dad didn't like it doesn't mean it's not. Silly and immature thread.

My dad fucking loves Paris, it's his favourite place on earth, he just made the whole trip miserable for me, which makes me not like Paris, because i had a horrible time there, same goes for the netherlands.

And, the people were rude to me the whole time, even when i spoke in french to them.

With respect, you have to recognise that, as English people, Screaming Skull and myself are utterly loathed by most Parisians, in a way that the average American simply isn't (well that may be slightly different now, but anyway) so whatever Paris may have to offer, the Parisians themselves will do all they can to make sure that we don't find it.

Blame the duke of Wellington if you like, but we know when we're not welcome.

americans are also loathed. anyone who insists that everyone should speak english is loathed. try a little french, don't be embarrassed, and you'll be treated like a prince.

screamingskull 06.08.2007 06:54 PM

The English hate the french and the french hate the english, its born into us, just like the scots hatred for us. I really have no desire to go back, none at all, the only place i want to go to is america.

i have to confess, i tend to hate the english :D

i grew up reading old sandokan novels and thinking of waterloo as a defeat. (which it was... damn aristocracies!).

i was also raised catholic, so henry VIII = the antichrist!

ha ha. it is all true.

demonrail666 06.08.2007 06:58 PM

It may sound paranoid but find an English person other than a rich one that is treated well in Paris and I'll buy a renault.

sarramkrop 06.08.2007 06:58 PM

what bollox. the french hate everyone.

pbradley 06.08.2007 06:58 PM

Ohio

may as well be a country

You reminds me why I really enjoy to live in that place. La Sorbonne... I know what you mean ! It happens to me everytime I go for a walk in this area.
You 're wise, man.

no i didnt gget a chance. caught la grippe on the plane and it was january! so i spent 2 days in bed with a fever, then after a couple of days we set off to provence by car, but first went to a chateau near chartres where we had reservations. a fucking chateau! i have pictures somewhere. it was insane (i wasn't paying).

on the way back we drove 13 hours through a snowstorm thru le massif central and went straight to the airport.

but next time, oh next time i'm going to spend a whole season there. my dream is to have a place in france. i swear i love your country, you can have conversations with people about art, politics, food, everything.

It's not that Paris is rubbish, but that it has this sense of its own significance that far outweighs its reality. That's why I say that it's over-rated.It's no longer recognised as even being a player in so many things it once excelled in. It's living off of its reputation, BIG time.

sarramkrop 06.08.2007 07:10 PM

I have some french friends. Not that it means anything, and they have better or worse things to do than posting on here, but i'm dead right. anyway, paris is cool if you get it.
