After reading the KC bio and countless interviews I checked out some of the bands Nirvana had mentioned, or covered (SY being one of them). And with every new band, I found out about some other band, and it just dominoed from there. They were also the reason for me picking up a guitar, because the music got me so fucking stoked that I wanted to rawk out myself. Sad to say I dont listen to Nirvana so much these days, but every once in a while when I'm down for some dirty pop, I crank out one of their records, they have my lifetime respect..

And that's my personal excperince with the band.

cool cool exact same, never heard anything decent then heard nirvana and was obsessed with them for a year, through them heard of sonic youth which has been my favourite band ever since of coure, and through sy learned of all other cool music. tried to play guitar for about a year but got annoyed with myself, was fun though while it lasted.
now dont really listen to them much except 'here she comes now' i love that song, and the in utero version of all apologies.
used to have the live tonight sold out video and had tried unsuccessfully to get hold of the year punk broke, reading this thread has prompted me to think aha yes now there is youtube!!! so just watching it all now, pretty cool

"if we could just turn some people on to different things.. thats sort of like our mission." Krist Novoselic

"you know more people smoke marijuana in the united states than voted for George Bush, think about it"

Nirvana is one of the last great, mainstream rock bands to be having actual fun and to be laced with such potent sarcasm.. I miss that in rock music. where is the fun?

infinitemusic 09.26.2009 04:22 PM

My first show was when my mom took me to see Blue Oyster Cult when I was 2 or 4 or something like that.

Decent band, LOVE "Muddy Banks" and a lot of their lesser known songs.

amerikangod 09.26.2009 06:42 PM
