I bitched a lot about shit that's pissing me off right now. Now on to the raving:
Secured myself a place to stay in Lower Manhattan (close to Tompkins Square) and already booked the flight. Spent a bit of time searching online for places to check out in my area. Thinking of just taking my Fujica with me and buying the film on location. Still four months to go, but really looking forward to it. |
I joined this forum 10 years ago this month, it seems. (Is it possible to find the exact date?) Nevermind, it makes me happy that I (and you) stuck it out for a decade, at least. Here's wishing we could massage history.
Toodles. |

Yeah, I read about Adorama. Seems to be somewhat of an institution. Closest thing to the place I stay would be Luster Photo, don't know how they compare though. Gonna have my obligatory hike up north to Midtown anyway. Will stop by at Adorama on my way there. Thanks for the piece of advice. And congrats, Skuj! Ten years and going strong. |
i love to watch the conveyors on b&h’s ceiling hahaha. insane place.

Just realised that, somewhere in my ranting/panic, I've reached the 'expwy. to yr skull' level.
'invito al cielo' next. Top level SYGing, here I come! |
My daughter and the idea that I might share my music collection with her some day.

Worked at an art gallery yesterday, guarding a set of VR glasses. Got to chat with an awesome musician who also performed there. She's active in NYC teaching and being involved in different artistic musical projects. Told her I'm into late 70s, early 80s New York underground. Turns out she actually worked on a project with Jarboe, which is awesome. And she told me I should contact her when I'm in NYC this September, so she can write me about some cool goings on that are somewhat off the mainstream radar. That's awesome.
And had a great spontaneous jam with two guitarists at the other art space I usually frequent after my shift was over. We did improvised versions of Bowie's "Always Crashing In The Same Car" and "It's No Game". That was fucking awesome and refreshing. I've attended far too few jams in recent history. |

Vienna has reached that sweet seasonal interim which kind of has the best of both worlds: All of the warm, serotonine-friendly summer lighting, but none of the sweltering heat and humidity. I'm afraid this won't last long. But I'm glad for days like this one.

Yeah, that was initially my plan. Then I took a long, hard look at the Airbnb options and decided that the second week would be more advantageous (more options). In the meantime, I also had to change my booking, because the former flatmate of my East Village (the one close to Tompkins Square I had mentioned earlier) host had to move back in after being kicked out of his new apartment. I'm staying in Chinatown, near Manhattan Bridge now. My flight is this Sunday and I'm stoked to the max. |
oh, nice, you go post-summer— much better!
cooler weather, city in full swing, etc. ah, the thrilling taste of anticipation! ha ha ha... enjoy... |
First day of my trip and it's a blast already. That tangerine glow envelopping Mott Street during those, like, two hours before dusk is just marvelous. And I treated myself to some great Black Bean Beef at Hop Kee. Love that place. It's an institution.
