i totally danced that one at a goth club like two weeks ago! |
You go to goth clubs???
|
I've never been to a goth club but from what I hear it's actually pretty fun, even if you're not goth. Though emmah's response to that statement made me laugh and reminded me of...
"you eat pieces of dog shit for breakfast?" |
I can't even really imagine what it would be like in a goth club. I picture it being black and blue (white faces lit up by black light)
|
Probably kind of psychedelic, and despite shitty goth music, from what I've heard they also play some songs like chuck berry and shit that you wouldn't expect.
probably because it was in pulp fiction and they think its neat, & I hate dancing, but I would totally dance to some chuck berry in a goth club, I'll wear my fur coat and it's on. |
houston's goth club, Numbers, plays industrial, goth, grunge, rock, freaky dance, and the smiths.
ha! and they play Thrill Kill Kult!!!! |
Just finished watching Pete Walker's Flesh and blood Show

this place is actually an old house, and they have pictures of the cramps and peter murphy on the walls, and the dance rooms have murals of a clockwork orange, einstürzende neubauten, crass and (obviously) christian death and the like. it was hilarious and a very bizarre night that one, tons of shit happened and one of those was seeing the goths get down with some surf, rockabilly and even ska (i drew the line on ska). and they played old school deathrock shit mostly, which was great. |
![]() good fucking documentary |
Quote:
oh shit, i remember i saw that on cable ages ago, it was a lot of fun, a minor scorsese movie but fuck, it was funny |

I saw The Duchess yesterday evening. It was good stuff, I thought, but the thing that has stuck with me the most is the score. Some incredibly beautiful music in there.

Haha.
I try to rate films based on a few factors... how entertained I was... rewatchability... stuff like that.. I try not to let outside influence affect my ratings; I don't care about the "importance" of a film when I rate them, for example. I thought the film was entertaining; unfortunately, it is probably the only film I can think of that I really would never want to watch again. Not because it disturbed me... I just didn't like it. I didn't like any of the characters, I didn't like the plot, etc. It isn't something I can reccomend in any way, because it just didn't do anything for me beyond, "Oh, wow, that was pretty shocking for 1975!" I bet if I had seen this when it came out, it would have been mind blowing. But again, I'm not rating it on how important it was for the time. Because since then, we've had crazy-ass films like PERIOD PIECE with old men shoving pork rinds up their naked asses and chopping pig's heads off... or films like VISIONS OF SUFFERING, which is the most fucked-up thing I've ever seen, period... so, yeah, I dunno. It just didn't do much for me. I try not to let expectations get in the way of my ratings, and I try my hardest not to compare films to other films... but the whole point of the film was to be shocking, to show these atrocious acts.. and none of it shocked me. It's certainly a very amazing work of art and I loved the music and the detached feeling of all of it. Still, a "6" in my ratings scale is still above average, so, yeah I guess I liked it well enough -- and I know that, in a way, the point of the film was to BE unlikeable. I respect it as a work of art, but as a film it didn't really excite me enough to ever want to watch it again. |
fire down below with steven seagal :D

![]() always a 10/10 |

the dark knight
and like everybody I love it. heath-joker is just one awesome villain |
violent cop. it was good but i expected much more from kitano. fireworks was much better
|
![]() didn't know what to expect, but it was fun, and funny, and a bit tragic but not over the top, better characters than narrative structure and above all great dialogue. Quote:
violent cop is very low budget, a total b movie, but fuck, it was fun! if you wanna see a beautiful movie by him w/ proper cinematography, try DOLLS. |

Streetwise (see my thread you doubt fucks, it will be good for you)
|

i'm watching! i'm watching! on section 6 now. FUCKED UP. |
I love how it's so real that it almost seems scripted.
It's definitely not scripted by the way. |
yeah no way its scripted. i am always amazed at how one can get people do just be themselves in front of the camera. it takes mad skills.
|
Seriously, there aren't many times where you even see anyone looking at the camera.
Streetwise is probably my favorite documentary so far, I'm so fucking glad I've finally seen it ahah. |
