ha. i could use a nap as i've been up for about 30 hours doing this and that. i'll probably fall asleep soon.

They really are great pics. They capture the city right now absolutely perfectly. Maybe you should take a few in some parks, just to show that we do have some, and very nice they are too. Great work, you visual Dickens you.
|
:D i had a playdate in hyde park yesterday just before i recorded that song in the bathroom.
|
I had something similar in Highgate Cemetary once, right by Karl Marx's grave. The Wall had just come down. Communism was undeservedly screwed, so I figured I, equally undeservingly, may as well be too. Power to the people, etc.

i love the george but move to NEW CROSS cause its cheap. overly trendy student scene, though there is some cool stuff going on here. some nice pubs and you can get everywhere easily. but mostly the rents on houses and flats is great, unmatched anywhere else that is as safe/nice/close to the centre |
Apart from the fact that you can't leave the fucking place because the East London Line is down.
|
there is busses and overground. i like it here. but i did grow up round the corner so maybe i am biased.
and you have deptford high street down the road which is AMAZING. especially if you like tacky jesus memorabilia ![]() |
i like tacky jesus memorabilia, but south london....
|
You can get one of those fake paintings that light up and have a psychedelic waterfall on it for £ 6.00 in Stratford/Leyton. Beat that, Lucy.
I know Depford market 'cause I lived in Brockley, which isn't far from there. |
i've got a black velvet painting of jesus...
actually i think i'm going to start collecting black velvet paintings. i like tacky things too. |

I remember how rough New Cross was when I was growing up. It's a lot better now than it was then, that's for sure. Is that jerk chicken place, I think it's called Coming Up or something, still on the high Street by the station? I used to love that place! |
haha. yeah its still there.
i lived in brockley last year... there's not a lot going on there. did you ever go to the wickham arms? my favourite pub - they let you smoke in the pool room and you get free cheese and roast potatoes on sundays. yum yum. |
Aw, thoughts of Coming Up is making me hungry now. Many a night stumbling out of the Hobgoblin and straight in for some Chicken and a can of Ting.
Yeah, I know the wickham arms. One of the few decent pubs left around there, although last time I went in it was packed with Goldsmiths students. |
goldsmiths students are bums. i can't believe they even found the wickham!
|
Really nice pictures there, sarramkrop. I used to live on Deancross Street, just behind the Watney Street shopping centre. I'm feeling all nostalgic now....
|
Lovely pics porky indeed, I like how the blurryness reminds me of security cam pics or something... captures the atmosphere nicely.
I'd like to do this sort of thing, but you know, around here it takes about half an hour to wander thru every corner and alley of the town centre. and it wouldn't be very interesting anyhow. |
I always think there's something really vaguely depressing about Watney Market.

Thanks guys, you're the very best. I have literally hundreads of these pictures to keep this thread alive for a while. I suppose I should tell where they are taken or what they are, so........
