I had something similar in Highgate Cemetary once, right by Karl Marx's grave. The Wall had just come down. Communism was undeservedly screwed, so I figured I, equally undeservingly, may as well be too. Power to the people, etc.

overly trendy student scene, though there is some cool stuff going on here. some nice pubs and you can get everywhere easily.

but mostly the rents on houses and flats is great, unmatched anywhere else that is as safe/nice/close to the centre

there is busses and overground. i like it here. but i did grow up round the corner so maybe i am biased.

and you have deptford high street down the road which is AMAZING.

I remember how rough New Cross was when I was growing up. It's a lot better now than it was then, that's for sure. Is that jerk chicken place, I think it's called Coming Up or something, still on the high Street by the station? I used to love that place!

did you ever go to the wickham arms? my favourite pub - they let you smoke in the pool room and you get free cheese and roast potatoes on sundays. yum yum.

Yeah, I know the wickham arms. One of the few decent pubs left around there, although last time I went in it was packed with Goldsmiths students.

I'd like to do this sort of thing, but you know, around here it takes about half an hour to wander thru every corner and alley of the town centre. and it wouldn't be very interesting anyhow.

Garden outside Tower Hamlet College. I like this garden cause it's outside where i live so I can sit under the trees with a fag, a book or just listening to my walkman.
