The Science of Sleep. It was pretty lovely.

I know this would belong to another thread, but since !@#$% brought up the subject of the movie (which I'm anxious for it to show here, mainly because of Alec Baldwin :o) I finished reading the book RUNNING WITH SCISSORS some months ago from a friend in New York. I didn't enjoy it that much. It's an insane thing, and thinking the guy really lived through that well...But I don't think Augusten Burroughs is such a good writer (c'mon, he was compared to WILLIAM Burroughs), as the characters don't look human, they lack a motivation or something. He seems just an observer (which in fact he was). Maybe he didn't process all of that shit completely or enough to make it deeper. Well I shouldn't complain, at least he went on when most of us would collapse. Anyway as I said, I'm looking forward to the movie. |
Last movie I saw was BLOOD DIAMOND. Only thing I'll say: why Djimon Hounsou was nominated for Best Supporting Actor while Leonardo DiCaprio was nominated as Best Actor (which I disagree, he should have been nominated for THE DEPARTED not this film).
Maybe because Djimon Hounsou is black and is not such a star as DiCaprio is. Because the main character is Hounsou's not DiCaprio's. Well Hollywood. |
Science of Sleep...a real cool film
|
Play it Again, Sam.
I must watch more Woody Allen movies. I loved it. |
![]() haha, it's great. |

Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind.

And?... Any good? |
ghost world
another brilliant zwigoff-clowes film. ties with "crumb". |
Inland Empire.... - monumental
The Science Of Sleep... - sublime |
i watched schindlers list last night for no reason in particular.
|
Watched Inland Empire and it was, as toxic johnny stated, monumental. 3 hours genuinely flew by and it was, at times, a bit terrifying.
|
La Mome. Not bad.
|
I watched Babel last night. Good movie, but I wasn't to keen on seeing Pitt and Blanchett amongst unknown actors. They stuck out like hamburgers on a persian carpet, which spoiled the movie is a way. Loved the japanese story the most, and the soundtrack was great.

If (like me) you sometimes enjoy watching films where very little happens, then it's pretty ood. My very favourite in the films-wherevery-little-happens category is the Iranian The Wind Will Carry Us, which I would highly recommend. The last film I watched is Canada's greatest, Jesus of Montreal. |
Thanks. I'll look out for that Iranian film.
How's life Hip? Don't see you much on the forum anymore. |
I know. I've just been very busy and very tired, but things are really good. I'm trying to be online more. How about yourself?
We might be rewatching "24 Hour Party People" tonight. |
I'm fine thanks. We've been having really nice weather lately. I'll be going for a stroll throught the woods today. Have a nice weekend. :)
|
Just finished watching Taxi Driver again.
Made me want to lift some weights (a rare feeling). |
I watched The Hoax last night. It was good.
|
End of the Century (very good) and Purple Rain (don't ask, I was flipping randomly through channels and decided to watch it. The music scenes I must say were very entertaining)
|
'That Thing You Do!' was on sky movies the other day so I watched it. Again.
I don't know why I enjoy it so much, but it is a nice film. |
Just watched Meantime again. I will never tire of this film.

Saw The Machinist finally the other day. It was quite good but also fairly unremarkable and the conclusion was disappointing.
Oh, after that I saw The Saddest Music in the World which was the opposite of unremarkable. Odd and highly memorable. And I started watching Tideland today but it became a bit of a drag. |
i saw casino royale the other day which i enjoyed more than i though i would. then started watching children of men but got a bit bored and might watch the rest later.
|
Children of Men is ace!
|
i just dont think i was in the mood for it but it certainly was better than i thought it would be. michael cain made me laugh in it.

I want to see that one, Fracture was the last one I saw. It was a good movie. Who knew that a guy who used to play Hercules on a T.V. show was going to turn out to be a great actor. |

I found it to be quite a bore, I relly did. The ending dissapointed me, oh so bad. |
Last night i watched "A Scanner Darkly"....not a great movie, but enjoyable.

Well, I liked it a lot and I fucking hate Michael Caine. He was just about bearable in Children of Men but still fairly annoying. I think I'll watch the rest of Tideland today and maybe something else later. |
![]() Watched it again, after the first two episodes of the new Sopranos. |

have you ever seen "get carter"?? the 1970's movie, not the shitty stallone remake (so pathetic! stallone!). anyway-- watch it. it might change whatever negative opinion you have of him. i actually like him quite a bit. he was also brilliant in alfie, and zulu, and that one about a jazz club owner, a spy movie... hm... i'll think about it, and he was great on educating rita and hannah and her sisters,-- blue ice! that was the movie i mentioned above. not a great movie, but entertaining.... anyway he does too many movies im afraid so that's bound to reflect poorly on him but don't wholly discard him based on the muppets movie or something. |

oh its fucking great! that's the north of england no? i remember lots of red brick buildings & forests. |
![]() Topless Women Talk About Their Lives (1997) - Harry Sinclair Saw this last night, and I found it a very enjoyable New Zealand film. The quality is amazing, considering the budget it got. The soundtrack is made up entirely of New Zealand music, mainly from the Flying Nun Label. Recommended. Tracklist Hey Seuss - 3DS North by North - The Bats Anything Could Happen - The Clean Animal - 3DS Saskatchewan - Superette Buddy - Snapper I Love My Leather Jacket - The Chills Down in Splendour - Straitjacket Fits Point That Thing Somewhere Else - The Clean Waves - Superette She Speeds - Straitjacket Fits Fish - The Clean Spooky - 3DS Not Given Lightly - Chris Knox |
watching 28 Day Later
right now, the empty city part with that GYBE song playing probably stop watching it and go to bed when the scene/song is over. |
