oh ok that makes sense. I knew Jenn's bf/husband posted here too but didn't know who. |

![]() This is a serious thread, I know its gotten up to 7 pages and by typical SYG rules this thread would be fair game, but not this one yo :( |
Well, let's not pay any attention to what he may have liked. We like Sonic Youth, so if We say tribute album, We mean it.
We're not talking about a posthumous Stu666 here, praise Jah, yo. |

True, but its not like he hated them either, and I don't think any of the other bands in his top-100 are interested or involved enough for such neither do they have a history of dedicated albums/singles/benefit concerts to fans. Quote:
Alright, now that made me laugh, and this thread could use some well-intentioned laughter.. |
I remember after Adam and I recorded our 4th album together we were listening to a Bad Moon Rising vinyl I snagged online. We set up lawn chairs in a bathtub and listened to it in the bathroom so it would reverberate. He said we should do an album like that but twice as slow, with vocals, mixed with Sisters of Mercy Bass and Polvo meet Bob Brozmon Guitar and record it while driving in a car live where we couldn't hear each other. He said I could play bass and drive plugged into a laptop with head phones. He would ride in the trunk with the same set up. We would both play stuff like on Bad Moon Rising but mix both parts together. Slow it down. Pitch his down and mine up and multi-tap delay it and send it to Thurston. I don't think he'd have suggested such an elaborate scheme it he wrote off the band in any way. He may not have been a fan boy any longer but he wasn't like that with any band. He just wanted to be equal. Why be a fan when you could be a contemporary? Just something about him I always admired.

do you play bass like the Sisters of Mercy? when I go, I want a Sisters of Mercy tribue album.
I deserve one. no joke. you people remember that. |
Holy... shit. Adam was one of the coolest guys I've ever 'known'. Not only was he an endless force of creativity, but his taste in film, games, and to a lesser extent - music, opened up entire worlds to me that I'd likely have never known. His work, and the bare means by which he often created it, was a true inspiration to me at a time when I needed it most.
I'll never forget the name 'Adam Cooley' and how he was able to have such a large impact on my life through nothing but his computer. Bless his soul. Time to go watch my copy of Me, Myself, and my Third Eye: the best DVD I'll ever own. |

Thanks Adam for being apart of my time on the SYG and I guess my life. It it sometimes hard to think of the online world as being the real world but I think when you have some sort of emotional attachment and invested interest that it become as real as anything else.
You will be thought about and missed. I hope somewhere within your self you understood the effect you were having on people all over the world. |

"tried" sounds past-tense. if there's anything that you should take from Adam's life is to never stop trying. who cares if it's "better" as long as it IS. dig? do you know "Lyrch"? |
^must spread rep.
|
Lyrch was a mad goth, man.

I hope Kyle uploads the live RUINHORSE video soon.

So this Saturday, my band WORDS played a big all day punk festival. We have a song called "Rothko Cathedral", our longest. It features a very droney section in the middle has always reminded me of Robe.
Long story short, we played "Rothko Cathedral" as our last song of our set and I dedicated it to Adam. |
went away at 27, like a legend, wow.
he was an amazing guy, from what i've read from him in this board. rip. |

Am listening now - sounding pretty great so far in a low-fi improv/rumbling sounds way. PS Have shared this on Facebook - hope that's all OK with you? |
I was thinking about that "atsonicpark-in-a-link-costume" picture...dunno why exactly, but it bugs me that we don't have it anymore here on syg...perhaps we (as in: someone, ideally someone friend with Adam and possibly with her too irl) could try to contact his gf at the time and ask her if she still has that pic (I think she took it..I think..)?
Sounds a bit creepy, I know, but perhaps that's the only way to retrieve it... p.s. I think she posted here for a while too...not sure about it and I don't remember her nickname either... |
|
Her name was like milkbubble or something. She uploaded a big album of Adam photos to her facebook but for some reason that picture is notably absent...
|
Thanks Derek. Perhaps it was taken with one of his cameras, who knows...I'm still hoping it will be found, somehow..
|
I really thought that I'd saved it. I have lots of randoms, like Crypto in a furry pair a 'jammies, king_buzzo with his tongue out from eating paint, clone posing in front of his records in those pants he never takes off, jico.- looking coked out, and finally glice - dressed as a S&M Nazi, but sadly, no astonic in his elf cosplay.
I have failed you all. :( |
I am searching for it. I know I have it somewhere. The audio was over dubbed with album audio because the sound was way too bad to hear.

Since Adam's gone, I guess I can share this secret: Adam was westernquinox.
mersbow wolves eyez |
the secret is out.
westernquinoxrox was this brilliant parody of a noise poser. his favourite album of the year was the 50 releases wolf eyes put out. good times. he followed the example of his hero masami and became an environmentalist Quote:
he was a black lawyer who loved noise and bought all the 3.5'' and lathes at the merch table. RIP |
