Description: It's at 16 Batty Street that the infamous Israel Lipski murder happened in 1887. A failing umbrella stick salesman named Israel Lipski forced nitric acid down the throat of a fellow boarder as she lay in bed on the second floor. The trial was a sensation and, even with intervention from rabbis and MPs, Lipski was hanged within a month. This murder set off a wave of antisemitism and the name 'Lipski' became a antisemetic slur throughout the east end.

No, that I know of they don't open 24 hours. There's always a pleasant atmosphere there. The George Tavern, which I have posted about earlier on this thread sometimes has more out there music on the bill.

there's a pub called the castle in whitechapel that looks a bit like that place and even before the change in licencing laws it was 24 hours, it's a good pub.

That pub is very close to whitechapel/aldgate, so it might be the same pub. I don't think it opens 24 hours, though, 'cause in the morning it seems closed. Maybe it's another one. One thing that I like about this area for sure is that you can go and find somewhere open in the midlle of the night, unlike central london, where everything closes after a certain time.

well when i say 24 hours i mean that i've been there at 3 or 4 in the morning at it has showed no signs of closing

I used to fall asleep on trains or buses much more than I do now. I nearly got arrested once for falling asleep at the bus stop after I had been out all night.
