There was an article in the Evening Standard a couple of months ago which said he basically wanted to have a more proven European Manager at the helm so that he could eventually sell up - seeing as Ramos would be seen as a better candidate to get Spurs into the top 4, thus increasing their share price. You could fit a whole conspiracy around Bent being a part of that - sign a player who your rivals might need but you dont neccessarily - but we shouldnt have to really, its not like this is government or anything.

Right, I'm off home for a tube of pringles, possibly a pizza, some beer, and England vs Croatia on the telly.

I'm torn between i) wanting us to qualify because, well, I'm an English football fan, and ii) wanting us to fail because we're always crap in the finals of these tournaments anyway and it's better to get the national embarressment over and done with at an early stage.
