Bit dramatic but I'd quite happily see Johnson and his cronies hang from a tree. Complete and total utter cunts.
Shafting Manchester for the support money needed for business and workers is a new low. |

also arguably was one of the things that contributes to complacency, taking the aus example: we were lulled into a sense of security with the fed govt proclaiming that a safe opening would be facilitated by the app and its broad uptake was the key means of restarting the economy which turned out to be a total fallacy; state govts used it as a security blanket/failsafe which spectacularly backfired when it came to the broader public's realisation that it was totally redundant. tl;dr these apps are only useful if used in settings with small numbers and with very aggressive contact tracing to bolster them, and even in the 'covid paradise' of australia they've been utterly piss poor |
@ _tunic_ (and everybody else), from Associated Press:
Dutch hospital airlifts patients to Germany amid virus surge ALMERE, Netherlands (AP) — A bright yellow helicopter rose into a blue sky Friday carrying a COVID-19 patient from the Netherlands to a German intensive care unit, the first such international airlift since the global pandemic first threatened to swamp Dutch hospitals in the spring. If a developed nation with a healthcare system that's been consistently ranked as one of the best in the world is resorting to this... Christ on a stick! :( |
Quote:
This is not that much of a big deal as it seems, well yeah it is if you're there, but still. In the Netherlands we indeed have good healthcare, but we do have a limited amount of IC units that are equipped to take care of the Covid-19 patients. And in Germany there is a surplus of them. Also during the previous pandemic some patients were moved from NL to Germany, and as well as from other countries e.g. Italy. |
Brilliant piece in The New Yorker. It ain't gonna change any dotard's mind, but nothing is - Trump himself could shoot them in the dick and they'd justify it saying it was to protect the country from Meryl Streep's Satanic Castrating Plan, so it was patriotic not to have a dick at all. Makes sense? No, it doesn't; that's the point. Anyway, for those who still care, please read it:

Mark Meadows says 'we're not going to control the pandemic'
Yeah, no shit you incompetent fucks. Dotard out, Biden in ASAP, please. |
Quote:
Yeah. Just like NZ didn't control the pandemic. Oh....wait!! I wish Fauci and Birx would really grow a pair and push back on this. But the tentacles of Trumpism reach very deep and very far. They are trying to walk a tightrope. FUCK TIGHTROPES. (And fuck Meadows.) |
I admire and respect Fauci, but again I say, he needs to TELL IT LIKE IT IS.
He's getting closer to that now: https://thehill.com/homenews/adminis...virus-approach |
Austria due to declare the second lockdown on Tuesday. Restaurants and cafes will only offer takeaway or delivery for at least a month. All indoor recreational areas apart from libraries will be closed. People are allowed to see a maximum of 6 different people from one household other than their own. And there'll be a curfew from 8PM to 6AM. Nightwalks seem to be exempt from the curfew though, as long as you take them just by yourself.
We've had an average of over 4000 new cases per day recently, so that was only a matter of time (Austria has a population just shy of 9 Mill). I'm glad this new lockdown-lite has left open some pockets of air. The way I know myself, I won't make use of the being able to see people from one other housold often, but it's nice to know it's an option. Right now I'm at a point where I say "Well, whatever, that dreaded time of the year's ahead anyway. Now at least I have a good excuse for indulging in my hermit ways." What a fucked time we're living in. But hey, it's a step up from March and April. |
we're screwed

Trump suggests he’ll fire Fauci ‘a little bit after the election’
If you think Fauci is doing such a shitty job, the fuck are you waiting for, dipshit? Another 230,000 deaths? I thought you were all about firing people. More: https://news.google.com/stories/CAAq...S&ceid=US%3Aen |

I sometimes wonder if he is actively trying to lose. Firing Fauci becomes A Story right on the eve of the election. Even some Republicans trust Fauci, don't they? |

The same thought crossed our minds four years ago. We were dead wrong. As Thomas Friedman said, Trump's so-called "teflon" is mud. The more you throw mud at him (or, in this case, the more he pours it on himself), the thicker his mud shield gets. For over four years (I'm counting the 2016 campaign), a large portion of the U.S. —even if they're the minority, it's still a LARGE amount of people considering they're batshit bonkers— have been gladly living an ad verecundiam fallacy (*): if Trump says it, it's true/good, no matter if he doubles down on shit that's evidently fucked up, or if he makes a 180º turn and goes, no, I never said that, you're fake news, what I'm saying now is what you should believe. Months ago I posted on this thread that there was no way he'd politically survive TWO HUNDRED THOUSAND DEATHS. And yet here we are, 230,000 deaths later, we don't know who will win tomorrow, but we do know this: the fucker will win in a bunch of states. Which is fucking DERANGED, because minimal amounts of reason, logic, experience, etc say this douchebag shouldn't get a single goddamn vote. But that's human nature for ya, and why I haven't missed seeing anybody during all these quarantines and lockdowns and shit. * Sorry if that sounded like the Skunk - ad fuck him. |
Yeah. I'm baffled by so many things these days. How can this particular election be a close race after what we have seen for 4+ years? That's one for the Psychologists, methinks.
