The Pinball of the Dead is a pinball video game created by Sega, for Nintendo's Game Boy Advance. It is based on Sega's The House of the Dead series of light gun games, particularly in The House of the Dead 2 version. It contains three tables, a "Challenge" mode based on the storyline of The House of the Dead 2, and a "Free Play" mode for playing whichever table you like. The bonuses on the tables involve such things as whacking zombies with the ball, collecting the letters of "House", and using the ball to defeat the bosses from The House of the Dead 2.
....this game is amazing. |

I think I'm gonna cave in and pick up a Gameboy Player today. They're only $10 at GameStop. What a steal.

Right, so I just wanted to share my pain. I've spent pretty much the whole of the last week beasting through Arkham Asylum for the second time, to get 100% on hard. There's an awful lot to do. We're probably talking like 20-30 hours of my life here. So I get to the very end, as in literally I complete the final challenge with the 3 bat rating, meaning I've got that 100%. I feel fulfilled, although slightly like I've just wasted a lot of myself. I wait for it to save, go back to log in screen to see that gratifying 100% sign by my profile, and... 'Corrupted Save!'. Completely gone. Not possible to get any of that back. I think the exclamation point was an unnecessary touch, frankly. Ugh.

![]() Still amazing after all these years. Haven't played it since I was like seven. It's been fun to play through again because I'd forgotten some of the solutions. And I never really ever actually solved the library slab puzzle, I always just winged that one. Really finally figured it out now this time, cool puzzle. Follows the movie roughly, covering all the right locations and plot flow, but other parts are totally omitted, so it can't be helped. The fighting bit is cool, but I kind of don't like it either as if you screw up at certain points you can make the game roughly impossible to win. But it's a hilarious game with great jokes, a good Sam and Max appearance and great visuals and puzzles. And that's ridiculous in itself considering it's about middle tier for Lucasarts adventure games. |
huh?

OH YEAH, TOUGH GUY?
You got yourself one of theeeese, MR. TOUGH GUY? ![]() My newly acquired, limited edition, 1994, Super Metroid collector's pin > yr soul. |
haha nice.
I have a couple Zelda soundtracks though. |
I purchased an adult Link action figure once during the Ocarina of Time era.
This same exact one here, actually - ![]() I couldn't help but open it up and "play" with it as a kid. I remember it's limbs not moving around too well, probably because it was intended to be a collector's item rather than a child's toy. I first lost the Master Sword, then the Hylian shield, and then Link altogether. Opening it up, and playing with it was easily one of the dumbest decisions of my life. PS: By the way, I actually did go out and buy that Gameboy Player. I can already see why you fell in love with this thing, my cousin had one.. but I never got to really play around with it. Everything is so large, and vivid - it's like seeing your favorite GB/GBC/GBA games for the first time! Not to mention, I consider the Gamecube controller to be the most comfortable controller ever. What settings do you like running this bad boy on? Right now I have the screen filter on Sharp, the screen on full, and the frame on No. 20. Plain, dull black looks best to me. I wonder if I'll ever have an urge to change it up. |
I use the plain grey frame. But same thing.
Yes. The GBPlayer rules. It's the best console ever. It's just tons and tons and TONS of 8 and 16-bit awesome-ness. |
Why not just say that the Gamecube is the best console ever? Is the GB player the only thing you ever play on it?
|
totaly hooked! thanks dos box.

DOSBox is one of the best inventions in the universe.

hells yes its a lot of fun but kinda hard to figure out, i had to ask a friend to do it. i believe that it is a lot easier on macs and there is some program that can do it a lot easier. |
If you do it enough times it gets pretty easy.
All I usually do is extract the game to my c drive, so the folder looks like C:\Krondor or something. And then just: mount c C:\Krondor C: and then whatever the exe file is, Krondor I guess. when it gets tricky is when the game has some problem where you have to do something additional to get it to run right. Wing Commander II being a prime example of needing several other commands to make it run right. Usually I have to add tags of loadfix 64 (I think 32 works as well) and changing the cpu speed to um 4831 I think, that's just hitting ctrl+F12 several times. I do hate when I have to mount a cd rom drive though, that does suck. I hate doing that. I think there's someway to set all that up though to where you just double click an icon and DOSBox automatically mounts and does all that crap for you. I'm just too lazy to look for how to do it. But yeah, it's kind of complex but a hell of a great program. |

Well that's what I mean. If I say GBPlayer, it's safe to assume it's attached to a Gamecube. And that i'm saying it's the greatest console, rather than a stand-alone GBA. GB library + GBC library + GBA library + GCN library = 20 years of amazing games playable on one console. |
I don't think the GameCube had many exclusive games on it worth playing, except maybe Pikmin (which they updated for the Wii version). Ikaruga was on the Dreamcast, Twilight Princess was on the Wii, Resident Evil 4 was on the PS2. Chaos Field is even on the Wii now. On the other hand, the DS has about 100 GREAT exclusive games, and can play all the GBA games too, so I'd say the DS is the best system ever.
|
Adam, though I admit the DS is wonderful -- and it is in fact the BEST system that is still on the market, the lack of GB/GBC support kills me (personally) because I have um "more than a lot" of GB/GBC games.
also, I don't really consider if a game is exclusive or not. It' s more like if a I made a list of all my favorite games, probably 90% or more of them can be played on the GCN + GBPlayer. |
I have an SNES with the supergameboy. The only thing I ever bought for it was Metroid II. I don't really get excited for GameBoy or GameBoy Color, there's a few okay games, but eh. GameBoy Advance is when shit got serious. Super Gunstar Heros and Metroid Fusion and all that awesome shit.

![]() Hate to say it, but I don't care for this game too much. It's like Mega Man x1-3, with uglier graphics (somehow!? I guess I miss the handdrawn look), plus it's slooooooooow. Everything is annoying, as usual, but since it's so slow and there seems to be a weird disconnected between pressing a button and actually, y'know, doing something. I played through a few bosses a few years ago, put it down, and never came back until last night, and well, I guess I can see why I put it down! Even the much maligned Mega Man X5 and 6 were fun, if a bit easy, in comparison. I just always felt like the X games were a bit weird, I loved the wall climbing and dashing, but jesus fuck, the weapons were lame in all of them except the first one, they never had any creative sections with the wall climbing (except, you know, annoying-ass spikes on walls, electrified fields on walls, or -- worst of all -- WALLS CLOSING IN AND CRUSHING YOU). Deaths come fast and cheap. Enemies are lame, and bosses are the lamest of all time. Here are the bosses in part 4: WEB SPIDER, CYBER PEACOCK, FROST WALRUS, STORM OWL, MAGMA DRAGOON, SLASH BEAST, SPLIT MUSHROOM, JET STINGRAY. Not too bad, you say? Well, let's look at part 5.. GRIZZLY SLASH, SQUID ADLER, IZZY GLOW, DUFF MCWHALEN, AXL THE RED, DARK DIZZY, MATTREX.... Yes, they're all named after Guns N Roses members. THe fuck?! That reminds me, in X3, the Neon Tiger stage music is identical to Guns N Rose's "My Michelle". Weird, eh? ...Anyway, none of those bosses beat X7's TORNADO TONION.. ![]() ![]() That's right, ladies and gentlemen, a giant fucking onion is a boss against you in Mega Man X7. Finally, can someone please explain X6's Infinity Mijinion? What the fuck is a mijinion, and how is it infinity? ![]() I guess the last thing I want to say is since the Mega Man X Collection for the ps2, in good condition, complete, is going for between $70-80 when I paid $20 for it years ago.. I'm selling this fucking thing. I'll just buy X1 again for the SNES, since I can probably find 500 copes for 50 cents, and it's the only one worth playing from the X series. On the other hand, I love most of the regular Mega Man games, as well as the Mega Man Zero games for the GBA. |
adam, have you played MMV on GB? All 5 GB games are different than the NES versions. I-IV take elements from two NES games. But V is the best as it has unique "planetary" bosses.
|
Sure have, I've played V and II and that's it. There's a GREAT article on every Mega Man game ever on 1up.com that talks about what you just said.
|
nice. I have all 5 GB games. They're really good.

![]() P.N.03 (GC) I remember back in '03 when Capcom made a 5 game exclusivity deal with Nintendo for P.N. 03, Killer7, RE4, Viewtiful Joe, and Dead Phoenix, which were all supposed to be Gamecube exclusives. Somehow Killer7, RE4, and VJ were all eventually ported to the PS2, and Dead Phoenix was never released. The only title that remained exclusive to the cube was P.N. 03. Like GunValkyrie, this game is also a very critically mistunderstood arcade shooter starring a sexy, mech-suit wearing female flipping all over the place, except P.N. 03 has more techno, and less platforming. It's confined environments, hypnotic beats, and space shooting action remind me of Space Channel 5, except it's not on rails, and the gameplay focuses much more on shooting, dodging, and performing special moves, than actual dancing... Vanessa's ass will be bouncing to the beat all on it's own - don't you worry! I picked it up for 2.99 at GameStop. It's outrageously cheap, so there's no reason this shouldn't be proudly displayed alongside your copies of Killer7, and Resident Evil 4 if you own a Gamecube. ![]() Wario Land 4 (GBA) Also surprisingly cheap at GameStop ($4.99), this game was one of my favorites for the GBA, and I finally own it again. I always remember the music being really cool in this game, and it sounds great coming out of my tv speakers thanks to my new Gameboy Player. I actually let the title screen tune loop for a good 10 minutes in the background after my first roung of playing. It's a jam. I forgot how bizarre this game was. At times the game gets genuinely surreal, and creepy! Unlike the weirdness of the WarioWare games, the odd quirks of this game have a much darker tone. I haven't gotten far enough in either game yet to give any official scores, but both games have been extremely enjoyable so far. |
yep. I FUCKING LOVE PN03. Great game. Amazing.
The Capcom Five thing is sad. Had it been what was promised, maybe it would have given GCN the legup it really needed to thrive. sigh. I'm not a big fan of the Wario series though. They're ok. 4 was especially good. 3 also. The first is pretty good, but the 2nd sucks. |
