i like Ghost Dog.
|
"Sure. He means like the rappers, you know, All the rappers, they got names like that: Snoop Doggy Dogg, Ice Cube, Q-Tip, Method Man. My favorite was always Flavor Flav from Public Enemy. You got the funky fresh fly flavor. "
|
Ghost Dog's pretty good, but only because Jarmusch crafted it as a tribute to one of the greatest films of all time, BRANDED TO KILL.
|
I'm in love with Jarmusch and I've only watched Broken Flowers and Coffee & Cigarettes. I need to step it up.

I love Jarmusch too, I'd recommend you to watch Mystery Train (it's my favorite), Dead Man, Down by Law and Ghost Dog. They're all amazing movies in my book. |
The first two stories of Mystery Train are good. Limits of Control is amazing. Everything else ... isn't really my thing. I hate Down by Law, I think it's one of the most boring films I've ever seen. He's not awful, just kinda dull, he has a good taste in movies though.

Yep. Mystery Train and Stranger Than Paradise our next on my list.

SMALL WHITE HOUSE - 9/10
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Completely unknown (5 ratings on imdb!) but completely, insanely brilliant movie. I'm uploading it to cinemageddon in a bit. |

Stranger than Paradise is the only Jarmusch film I've seen that I totally enjoyed. |
"A Night at the Opera", continuing on my Marx Brothers kick.
|
![]() 3/10 Not even Paul Giamatti could save this. |
Lady in water was like a movie that did not know it was supposed to be a movie, awkward and not fulfilling at all
|
it's shyalaman, why did you even bother?
|
Forget Uwe Bolle -- I really think Shyalaman is the worst director of all time.
|
![]() 7.5/10 |
there's something about the atmosphere in kiyoshi kurosawa's films that you just can't get anywhere else. That being said, he's yet to make a consistent film, from top to bottom.
|
I watched Lady In The Water because I figured, "how bad could it be? " and then I found out.
|
![]() ![]() long goodbye - 9/10 Nothing like some good neo-noir. Yet another brilliant Robert Altman film. |

Bolle films are at least hilariously entertaining. And you have to admit, Bolle has petitions made to get his movies stopped, but he's just like "whatever, I'll raise the $ myself and still make it." Bolle to me is like our generations' Ed Wood Jr. M Night just sucks. |
Quote:
Heh. I wouldn't go that far. Ed Wood's films were brilliant. He made at least 3 masterpieces (Glen or Glenda, Plan 9, and Night of the Ghouls). He was brilliant; I think he was really ahead of his time, actually. I think if Criterion or somebody re-released Glen or Glenda, with a different "context", presenting it like some kind of Bunuelian or Lynchian film, some kin of experimental or arthouse film or something.. people would be forced to re-evaluate it for the work of personal, autobiographical, absurdist art that it is. I think Ed Wood knew exactly what he was doing, and I think he was better than, oh, Orson Welles or Hitchcock or whoever. Anyway... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() WHO ARE YOU, POLLY MAGOO - 9/10 Wow, this film was brilliant! It currently has 285 ratings on imdb.. the fuck? |
