Totally. Some shows I'm sure are tailored to an audience made almost exclusively of twats. I wouldn't be surprised if Gavin and Stacey's creators routinely reminded James that his lines and character were intended to make him look and sound like a twat. They must have spotted a natural talent from the very first audition.
