Just search it up on Pirate Bay, alan. You'll need to google up some subtitles though.
![]() 8/10 Masterful framing, brilliant use of depth of field, wisely creative editing, and a lot of people getting their faces busted in. It took me a second to find this film's rhythm, but I'm very glad that I did. However, I still wasn't too big on this film's plot, and didn't find it all-too engaging. Which is a shame, since this is truly a well-made flick. I saw the ending coming from a mile away, but it was beautifully handled. I think my favorite visual from the film was the man in the wheelchair gazing out into the roaring ocean. That was cool. Quote:
Yea, Hayden Christensen is easily one of the worst actors I've ever seen. His performances are always so goddamn stiff. I can't understand how anyone can tolerate him. |

![]() The Texas Chain Saw Massacre - 13/10 ![]() Pink Flamingos - 10/10 |
yeah how did Hooper make such an extraordinary film, and then go on to a career of fuckups?
|
YES!!!!!!!!!! Pinnochio 964 has long been one of my all time favorite movies. It just completely blew my fucking mind when I saw it.
|
![]() ^Kristen Bell. Anyway, I've seen it before. I think it's funny. Not earth-shattering. But funny. A 4/5 I'd say. Jonah Hill's small part is great. And that awkward dude from 30 Rock too. Also watched two docu's on netflix-Wii but I forget their proper titles. One was a docu about US horror films. (Might have been called Nighmares In Red White And Blue?) and the other was a docu about grindhouse/exploitation films. Both interesting. |
Pinocchio 964 sounds intriguing is there a DVD release coming?
|
It rules so hard. 9/10 Not sure about the DVD though.
|
Watched this last night...
![]() The Taste of Tea - 9/10 An absolutely brilliant, and visually stunning film that touched my heart. Bless your soul (or whatever), Mr. Cooley, for informing me of this one. EDIT - FUCK IT, 10/10 |
![]() brilliant movie |
Being There. 10/10
|
After watching Taste of Tea you have to watch Funky Forest - The First Contact...(if you haven't already!)
|
Will definitely do. Thanks me.!
|
Funky Forest is pretty nutty, but I didn't like it as much as that guy's other films (Sharskin Man/peach hip Girl, and Party 7). I would, however, highly reccomend SURVIVE STYLE 5+.
|
anyway
![]() made in hong kong - 9/10 ![]() stranger than paradise - 5/10 ![]() disco pigs - 90 minutes I will forget/10 |
![]() 4/10 |
What I've seen of his stuff wasn't too bad, I first got into him because he was compared to Fassbinder (one of my favorite directors -- I see a few similarities between the two but not really). He's got some pretty decent stuff, I've been meaning to check out WOMEN ON THE VERGE OF A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN for a while. Anyway, LIVE FLESH, TALK TO HER, LIVE FLESH, and BAD EDUCATION are all pretty good film, ALL ABOUT MY MOTHER is probably the only one I would call "great".

Judgment Night
7/10 First heard of this through the soundtrack (which is really good-Sonic Youth mixed with Cypress Hill? Sir Mix-A-Lot with Mudhoney? Del the Funky Homosapien with Dinosaur Jr? Sign me up! Helmet/House of Pain, Faith No More/Boo-Yaa TRIBE and Therapy?/Fatal are good too). It's not a bad movie but the name brings to mind something far more omnious than a bunch of silver spoon white guys (oh wait, Cuba Gooding Jr. was there too) being chased through the ghetto by drug dealers after witnessing a murder. Denis Leary played a pretty good villain. Worth seeing if you like the soundtrack, but I can't see anyone calling this a classic. ALSO Due Date 9/10 This was a great movie. Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis made a good team and there were lots of laughs to be had. I think they were secretly trying to imply Galifianakis' character was gay, but I might be reading too much into a movie that wasn't meant to be all that subtle. There was a lot of great music too...RZA was in it briefly, but I don't know if he had anything to do with the soundtrack. Very well written (you can't say that for a lot of buddy comedies), but a few inconsistancies stop this one from achieving a 10/10 (actually, I'm pretty stingy with 10/10 ratings...most of my favorite movies don't even get perfect 10s). |
I just watched the Austrian "Funny People". I hadn't seen it. If that skinny weakling who plays Paul ever tried to fuck with me I'd destroy him. I mean seriously, he weighs like 120 lbs! And he's supposed to be scary? I don't care how psycho he is, the dad was dumb to just slap him in the face in the beginning he should have beat him into the ground and kicked him and his fat friend out! At least in the new one Michael Pitt legitimately looks like he can be intimidating (I mean, 'Boardwalk Empire' proves that).
Both versions are lame. |

Spent all night watching great films:

stuff I have watched recently
Oldboy 7/10 The Pink Panther Strikes Again 5/10 The Call Of Chuthulu 7/10 Remo Williams : The Adventure begins 6/10 We Jam Econo: The Story of The Minutemen 10/10 ![]() Rockers 10/10 ![]() La Jetee' 10/10 The Infidel 5/10 Encounters At The End Of The World 10/10 ![]() Agurre Wrath of God 10/10 F fo Fake 6/10 Hellboy : Blood & Iron 8/10 Batman: Under The Red Hood 9/10 Batman Vs. Dracula 7/10 Mr. Mom 9/10 Rudo y Cursi 7/10 ![]() The Warriors 10/10 |
Wow - 10/10 for The Warriors?! really?!... but 6/10 for F For Fake? Hmm. Whatever flloats your boat, Rob! At least you only gave Oldboy a 7/10; that sounds about right. Nearly everyone else in the world considers it a perfect movie, but I've always felt it was a bit overrated -- the villian is so cartoony and ridiculous, with all his comic book supervillian technology and insane mind games. SYMPATHY FOR MR. VENGEANCE is a great film though.
Anyway.. ![]() ![]() FRUIT OF PARADISE - 9/10 This is a film by the girl who made Daisies, and it's just as whacked-out and even MORE experimental than that film. Just beautiful and crazy, with an insane organ and choir soundtrack. A beautiful, awe-inspiring, fast-moving mini masterpiece. ![]() boarding gate - 5/10 This had some cool scenes.. it was alright... Kim Gordon is in it... ?! Anyway, both of the posters for this film are extremely lurid. ![]() ANDY WARHOL: A DOCUMENTARY FILM Been watching this one on and off for the past few days. Finally finished it earlier (it's 4 hours long). It's pretty damn comprehensive and awesome, though some of the musical choices were a bit iffy. |
my 10/10 for Warriors is purely nostalgia based man. ha!
but F for Fake was not perfect by far either. there were some real aimless bits there man. Oldboy is flawed for sure. Not great but it does have some really well done cinematography at times. |
![]() boarding gate - 5/10 This had some cool scenes.. it was alright... Kim Gordon is in it... ?! Anyway, both of the posters for this film are extremely lurid. Kim Gordon is in Boarding Gate, yes, with Asia Argento and Michael Madsen starring too. Connie Nielsen and Charles Berling (above) perform in Demonlover (2002) indeed. No need to say Sonic Youth did soundtrack for it. Carlos - 9/10 Last Assayas' movie is truly great, although I could see only the 165-minutes version. The full version is 333-minute long! In director's words, "To me this is not a political film, but a film about politics, and what makes modern politics - which is complexity and international connections". Les Amants Réguliers - 9/10 You are totally right about Philippe Garrel |
Whoa that was weird. I thought you were posting the exact same thing I posted, haa (since there was no "quote"). I have demonlover too but I hasven't gotten a chance to watch it...
Glad you check out Garrel1 He rules!! |
Fruit for Paradise looks sick...Batman vs. Dracula? Hmmm.....
|
Death Drug was really oh so great. So glad I saw it. What the fuck is wrong with the main actor with three names.....ugh!!!! Beautiful. Can't believe he got his own music video spliced into it 7 years after the original release. I want to get someone over so I can watch it again with them.
Anyone seen Class of 1999 ?(cinemageddon special). |
Yeah, don't bother with Class of 1999. It's a shoddy somewhat-sequel to the cult classic Class of 1984 ... which you definitely SHOULD check out if you haven't already.
|
Mhmmmm, I had my doubts. The file is mega huge, glad I didnt get it.
|
![]() Saw this on Netflix instant watch. I thought it was pretty good. Reminded me of "Black Christmas" but this came out a year earlier (1973). Apparently the Netflix version is not the unrated version, which makes me curious about seeing that version. |
![]() FUTURE COPS - 6/10 This movie is a huge Hong Kong ripoff of Street Fighter II. The funny thing is, it's a billion times better than the American Street Fighter II movie. It actually is really insane; people throwing fireballs, flying through the air -- cheesy as hell, obviously, but entertaining nonetheless. ![]() ![]() ![]() Kinda the worst film ever made, kinda fun as hell. |
