Well that was pretty mental
|
:D Have to have a cig after it?
|
Well that's a given in any situation. Crazy game though. Commentators at half time laughing off any prospect of West Ham coming back, talking about the 2nd half being a training exercise for Spurs. I'm taking every game as it comes now. Man City next week. Can't expect anything but they have problems of their own, so you never know. To say this season has been unpredictable so far is an understatement.

funny moment in Spanish 5th football league. in the 94th minute, with a 0-1 score
even more bizarrely the name of the winning town is PENISCOLA !!! |
R.I.P Maradona
Too many (English) morons are going to bang on about his hand of God but he was absolutely the best player on that pitch and if he hadn't had scored that he'd have done another. To go along with one of the greatest goals ever seen in the same game. Absolute genius of a player. |

he was in terrible shape as of late though so death must have come as a relief. |
RIP ya big nutter-genius, you

![]() The player on the left was suspended, I wonder why, they were just getting familiar with each other? :D |
Hand-ball?

West Ham pulling off another victory, jumping to 5th. No way will we finish anywhere near that but I'm really appreciating what Moyes is doing this season. Not always the prettiest to watch but there's real character there now. They definitely rode their luck tonight, but the difference is that previously they would've simply buckled under the kind of pressure Villa put them under before luck could've even had a chance to play its part. I'll take that, even if we end up finishing closer to 15th than 5th.

The Australian league starts on Sunday (this is the transitionary season towards moving back to winter for 2022 onwards). Honestly not sure what to do about it, but I'll try to do my stats and see what happens.
Might need to pick a new team to follow. |
FC Emmen is at the last spot in Dutch primary league. In 17 matches they still haven't won, only 5 draws. Their supporters decided to lend them a hand, and did this to one of the goals. It didn't help :D

Cyprus - Slovakia 0:0
the tragic decline of our national team |
Turkey - Netherlands 4 - 2
the Dutch squad gets slaughtered by the press, calling their play "endless knitting", and every player got a rating between 4 and 5.5 (out of 10). The regular goalie Cilessen got injured during warm-up, so the substitute Krul had to replace him, he got told only minutes before the game. |
Surely Tim Krul should be a national hero for you guys?
|
Quote:
Difference is back then he was the substitute and came in after regular playing time was over. Yesterday he was the substitute before the match had started. |
Tim Krul, fucking Newcastle legend. Well kind of. Probably slightly better than Nigel (smoke a bong) de Jong. Where's he at these days? foken Norwich or summit
|
Quote:
you're a Newcastle lad, Diesel? now there's a different goalie legend there - mr. Dubravka from my homeland :) |
Quote:
and we sunk even further Slovakia - Malta 2:2 Can't believe we're a team who once beat Italy on the world cup and then beat teams like Spain etc. |
Quote:
I'm not even trying to understand this... Slovakia - Russia 2:1 First we draw with the dwarves from Malta and then we beat Mother Russia? |
Quote:
yeah, uhhmm, I just do not understand it. have not seen neither of the matches so I do not know how did they play and what sort of strategy/tacticts they used in every match. it is kind of weird to hear we struggled with "weak" teams and won over Russia. how come? different tacticts, discipline this time? so we are back in game right? |
Quote:
we have a big problem playing against teams who "park the bus". (=total defensive tactics). We don't have too many players with the flair or individual skill to do 1-on-1 vs. defenders. And it's hard to play combination, when you're up against 11 people stuck in defence. On the other hand, we like being the underdogs when we play against stronger opponents. Then we kind of park the bus and play counterattacks. Yesterday, our tactics against Russians was physical play - we have players who like this rough play (Kucka, Hubocan, Skriniar), and it was successful. |

Aye, wey South Shields to be precise. Legends in the broadest sense, as in completely mediocre, because Newcastle innit. |
Bloody love the knockout stages of the champions league

Bayern vs. PSG was the bomb yesterday funny to see the two clubs I hate so much play such entertaining football |
Quote:
oh man i had forgotten this game almost completely but now this... i wonder where i could catch a replay of that match. |
forget about yesterday, tonight it's Ajax - AS Roma ;)
|
Quote:
forget that either, it's Arsenal vs. Slavia Prague today! |
Quote:
I feel you. Absolutely no intention to see either in the final, PSG more but that was a fun game to watch. Watching games like this make me realise how far.mu team, Everton, have to go before we can even consider ourselves a decent team. And that's considering that both PSG and Bayern had moments of total weakness. Roll on the 2nd leg next week. |
Quote:
but yeah it's annoying not to be able to see :( |
Quote:
Just dodgy stream it. If the TV companies aren't willing to make it easy for you to watch football then fuck 'em. Another great match last night! Neymar was incredibly unlucky to not score cos he was on it. After the absolute bilge that was Everton/Brighton on Monday it was good to have a reminder of what decent football looks like. Praying to the football gods that Real Madrid can go through tonight. |
Quote:
I never got the whole streaming thing. Tried streams a couple of time but it always seemed fishy/dangerous to be clicking on the links - threat of viruses etc. |
Sure, you gotta cover your back with adblockers and whatnot but there are decent, reliable streams out there nowadays.

last year i got cbs all access on amazon, and even if cbs all access carries chqmpions league somehow on amazon the games were blocked. i managed to catch some games because the link appeared on some devices/queues but not others. i got on with tech support and they couldnt fix it told me it wasnt available. but i got it anyway. it was the most absurd joke and not ready to wasted time again. and seriously, my computers are for work so i can't mess with them with russian spyware. otherwise, at this point, i would... but maybe it's wiser to put things out of your mind sometimes... ![]() |
Did you hear about the announcement for the new European Super League? Watch Gary Neville's take on it (it's two videos)
Blimey, he's pissed off !! And I totally agree This article has the complete video of Gary's rant |
Will be very interesting to hear UEFA's response - I hope that it's along the lines of "get fucked".
|
Here's another article with live updates
The UEFA is also opposed: Quote:
Quote:
As of yet some clubs are still lacking like PSG and Bayern Munich. But the article claims a few clubs will still be announced. I wonder if Ajax would be up for it too ... |
Quote:
But the Premier League will be without the six teams that are the Founding Partners ... I wonder what the players will do, they will also be banned from the national squads. I can't imagine players like Virgil van Dijk or Debruyne would be accepting that. In other news: Tottenham has fired Mourinho!! Probably not related to the ESL, I would say good for him when they are banned from Premier League. |
