you're right. so fuck taking a nap.
i am going to learn to drive on the left side. TODAY. |
Well done. I take the chance to hijack this thread and post pictures of my way to and back from work. Pictures are low quality 'cauSe both my digital cameras have been stolen together with my bag a while ago and at the moment I just use my phone to take pics. It's the best and most invigorating walk that I take almost every day, unless I'm on the public transport.

Yeah. While this isn't probably the thread or even the forum to be discussing economic theories, I'd recommend Will Hutton's book The World We're In and Anthony Giddens' The Third Way and its Critics. both are accessible, current and focus specifically on Britain - although with inevitable global context. |

For a phone-cam, those are somes great pictures. It's interesting how depending on where you're taking the shots, some of it could only be london, while for some reason the south bank always reminds me of Paris. Not the usual pretty Paris, but some kind of pompidou-esque Paris. I dunno. I have a point I'm sure. I'm just not sure what that point is exactly. Great pics either way.

There's also the fact that someone who lives in a big city like this tends to plan things way ahead because it is more difficult to meet with certain people depending on what schedule someone is on. Some friends sometimes I don't see for a month or more because either they are busy or I am.
Demonrail - The majority of those were taken between Bank, Aldgate and Shadwell/Limehouse. They are such shit quality, though, I can't wait to get another good camera. I am far from being a good photographer, I just like to take random pictures that I can then use as inspiration for artwork. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

i think they are great pictures, period-- like great polaroids. great composition, subject, etc. fucking good stuff. |
porky i like your pictures.
btw that "fuck naps" statement was completely irrational. i am in no condition to drive, particularly on the side of the road that i'm not familiar with. |
Love the pictures, sarram, especially the night-time ones.
|
They're honestly not that good because of the quality and the brightness/contrast, but thanks anyway. By the way, East London is the best for taking pictures. Such fantastic mixture of ultra-modern buildings, gritty reality, old buildings etc. It's very inspirational purely from a a visual point of view.
|
yeah i like the juxtaposition of the old with the new and all the grime and dirt with these immaculate modern buildings and that. there's definitely a feel to it.

Great pictures. I like the photocamera-look too. They make me want to goto London again, just to walk about.

![]() I walked into the place next to the George Tavern casually one night before it was shut down, and I thought that it was a late night drinking den. It was full of questionable ladies entertaining even more questionable old, creepy guys. ![]() ![]() |

those pictures are awesome, really makes me want to go to london and see it first hand.
and yeah, definitely big city syndrome, i have friends i don't see for years on end because they are busy (not many, most i don't see more months). |
My favorite part of the City in the short 3 weeks I was there was Fleet Stret area, old buildings that the nazis missed...

Brilliant. Thanks for that. I know nothing about economics and it's suddenly sounding interesting to me, so this is good. I shall find those books. |
Porky those are awesome pics.
|
i learned how to drive on the other side. not difficult at all.

madame jojo's is literally about one minute's walk from my work. i've only been there once though, and my friends and i were about 10 years older than everyone else in there.
|
I went there a couple of times something like 8/9 years ago and they used to have a really good vintage funk/soul night on Sunday. Do you ever go to the sleazy sex shops round the corner from there? I pass through there often if I'm walking from work to meet someone for a drink in Soho.
|
i had to go in to a few sex shops the other day because i got sent out to buy adult sport for the office

Bumped especially for Nefeli.
![]() I think that this little beast is the bus you were thinking of on Toilet's thread. Look at it, it's like the nine circles of hell on 6 wheels. |
doubledecker or it doesn't exist
|
Oh, and it's never as empty as on the picture that I have posted. Poseur!

It's the number 25 above. 2+5= 7 I know that number hides a satanic message. |
a dvd that the company was working on got reviewed in adult sport magazine so i had to go and buy a copy. 25 is the dangerous bus.

Trivia about Limehouse/ Shadwell, where I live.
A band bamed themselves after Commercial Rd, the main artery that leads to the city. Not much cop, here they are: http://www.myspace.com/52commercialroaduk |
Watney Market. The letter S has fallen off where it says ''Shopping Centre''. It's been put back on but it doesn't look quite right like it used to before.

Limehouse/Shadwell residents enthusiastically signing a petition to stop the closing of some of the local post offices bang in the middle of Watney Market.
![]() Oh, and that Abbey cash machine is a bit dodgy. Sometimes it doesn't give you the cash. |
Local boozer The Castle is good to visit for a pint or two. Bands occasionally play here, and they tend to be of the nme variety.

The entrance of the dubiously named Batty Street.
![]() Batty Street is also the home of Katrina's Hair Salon, which seems always empty. http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1243/...8d1ed3.jpg?v=0 |
