^The guy on the far right kinda looks like porky...

![]() Dean being silly. ![]() Craig being even more silly. ![]() Marco being cute. ![]() Kate (the girl at the back) being ever so gorgeous. With these people I can communicate telepathically. Accidentally I have noticed that my closest male friends all have a beard. I'll have a word. |
My best friend is a complex character.
In my home, the night I gave him a skull: ![]() Pre-show snapshot before going onstage as a member of the performace art duo Conservative Snizz: ![]() During said performance: ![]() Looking exxxtra sleazy at his old place a while back: ![]() |

Your friends look like a great bunch as well. Aside from the confusion that is cause by the two of us having the same name, it's worked out pretty well. We've been super-tight for about 16+ years now, and rarely argue. He is the one with whom I made my first "publicly released" recording; a split lathe-cut 10" in an edition of 50, with moving parts on the cover. That was in 1993 or 94. Acid-folk stuff. At the time, we each were the only person the other knew who was into that kind of music at all. Nazi UFOs and op-art go better together than one might imagine. ![]() |
Apart from Craig (who was also my boyfriend) I have never argued with the other three. When we disagree about something we all know that we better leave it and get on to other things. Best friends shouldn't be used as emotional punchbags. They are also very good for my brain 'cause they are all amazingly intelligent, witty and strong people. Britain has also lost a great actress in Kate, who gave up her career because of the shallowness of the people who run the industry. She now works for a record company and is very successfull. A fan of Ride, Sonic Youth and Loop she is too.

before the internet there were epistolary relationships. in fact, it looks like the whole business of the enlightenment was conducted by mail. if they could only have smell themselves live! and well yeah i have some writerly friendships. smell-free. how deep they run i will never know-- until tested, of course. |

yeah, back when makeout club was the cool place to go. i haven't found a close internet friend since 2002, but i still have one or two that i basically talk to on the internet only. i never found love over and internet. i never want to. i found some girlfriends, but they lived an hour at the most from me and we hung out right after we started talking. |
The Instigators

so much man-grabbing going on in that pic, rob!
no friend of mine enters the PERSONAL ZONE. "ok! the camera is about to go off....1.....2.....3 NOW GRAB!!" |
that's what happens when the drunk is on when you've known each other for over twenty years
|
I've known my friend that long and there's no way in hell he's getting a reach around.
Nobody is allowed to touch me! NOBODY. |

my parents ... pioneers of total geekdom that they are, met "online" in the mid-sixties. they were both grad students at Penn, home of the Eniac and other vacuum tube based computational devices. some geek who wanted to get laid wrote a "match-maker" program so all the other geeks could input their info and find a date. apparently the vacuum tubes told my parents that they should make me, very likely the first ever product of an e-lationship. my real parent: ![]() |

yeah, plus it was the original "scene" or altenative site. i do think if it wasn't for makeout club there wouldn't be a myspace. the place does suck ass now though. it did then too, but i found some good friends that aren't online friends from that site. |

oh, such a beautiful picture. tons and tons of good spirit coming out of it for sure. |
