Yeah, I was thinking either those 2 or Sizemore to win.....lefties.

I'm taking Berkman to win since he has both the derby experience and he's been hitting the ball really well this year. I think he actually hits first, so hopefully he doesn't cave in under all the pressure.

"I'm so excited!!"

Last night was a great derby, but it was obviously, in the end, a let down.....it was like someone let all the air out of the balloon at Yankee Stadium once Hamilton didn't get those last HR's.

I just knew that Hamilton would be worn out after the first round. Those balls he hit were tagged though.....Jesus.

Hopefully Morneau will carry this over for the second half and hit for a little more pop in one of my fantasy teams......ha ha.

I'm going to take the AL to win tonight since we always win, although I have to say that the NL has one of the better teams they've had in awhile now.

davenotdead 07.15.2008 02:27 PM

Hammy put on a freakfest show... freak... by the 20th shot, everyone knew he was the best player on the field... not in the derby, on the field... yes i said it... his pure ability is just incredible... i've seen it matched by Griffey, A-Rod, and Bonds, and none others come to mind... i think his 71-yr-old pitcher was more worn out than Josh was... and he was trying too hard to hit it out of the park, but i mean, three of his shots are in the top 6? all-time farthest ever in the contest... unreal

krastian 07.15.2008 03:55 PM

I hope he gets ahold of one tonight.

krastian 08.23.2008 09:21 PM

Well, it looks like the Rays are going to hold off the Red Sox and win the East. Beckett is having problems with tingling and numbness in his arm....that would really fuck the Red Sox if it turns out to be a major problem.

It's kind of crazy that the Yankees will not make the playoffs for the first time since 1993. In a strange way, I kind of found myself wanting them to make the playoffs so that we can have one more post season at the old Yankee stadium.....oh well.

I think the Brewers can give the Cubs a run for there money in a 7 game series with C.C. and Sheets. Braun has to be pretty healthy though, I think his back is fucked up.

All in all I think it's going to be the Angels and the Cubs.....I'll take the Angels in 6.

Oh yeah, check out Matt Wieters stats from the minors this year.....just fucking tearing it up.

He's going to be Joe Mauer with pop.

davenotdead 08.23.2008 10:12 PM

Yes. Rays> I Knew It

krastian 08.23.2008 10:18 PM

Not to mention they are still winning without Longoria AND Crawford.

davenotdead 08.23.2008 10:19 PM

CC is over-rated, but yes. and without Percival

krastian 09.23.2008 09:05 PM

Fuck it, I'm taking the Cubs in 6, not the Angels.

I think it will be Angels and Cubs still though.

The Brewers are really blowing it....getting beat by the Buccos right now.

The Mets are being the Mets.

davenotdead 09.23.2008 09:38 PM

its the year of the Rays. I'm going Rays over Cubs in 7

krastian 09.23.2008 09:44 PM

Ya think??

I don't think they have quite enough starting pitching....let alone the experienced starting pitching.

If they make it to the Series against the Cubs, then I don't really see them beating Zambrano, Dempster, and Lilly.

Don't get me wrong, Kazmir, Shields, and even Jackson are pretty beast, but I'm not quite sold yet.

I think they can beat the White Sox, but that's about it (in the AL).

Longoria JUST crushed one in Baltimore.

krastian 09.23.2008 09:54 PM

Christ, the O's are about ready to blow it to the Rays right now.

Wieters was Minor League Player of the Year though.

ha hah ah a

davenotdead 09.23.2008 10:05 PM

don't worry man. You've got a great young core in Markakis, Wieters, and Adam Jones!

as for the Rays, their only big glaring weakness has been strong LHP (thank God Liriano and the Twins aren't in), and the closer spot... but now that Longoria is back, we don't lack that big bopping RH bat anymore, and now that Percival is no longer the closer, we are good to go. We've proven we can beat the Red Sox, and the White Sox don't worry me too much. I think the Angels can be beaten. and we now have David Price pitching. so bam

krastian 09.23.2008 10:10 PM

I guess Price will come out of the bullpen to face tough lefties??

I think Wheeler is a decent closer and the rest of the bullpen is pretty sold too.

Matusz is going to be beast.

We need a SS, 1B, and more starting pitching. We need to just sign Brian long term...he's valuable as fuck.

I think the loss of Manny's clutch bat is going to hurt them this year....not as much protection for Ortiz.

Bay is good, but come on, he's never done it on the big stage in a do or die situation.

davenotdead 09.23.2008 10:55 PM

Price in the bullpen was the original idea. but i'm pretty sure he is going to start from now on. he is too good not to. edwin jackson or sonanstine may move to the pen i guess. we have Kaz, Garza, and Shields as the main 3. i guess Price and Sonanstine may start, and jackson will be a power arm out of the pen

krastian 09.23.2008 11:03 PM

They're not going to start Jackson??

He will be a better bet than Price. Have Price be the Rays Joba/wildcard out of the pen.

Either way, Price pitching in the postseason is a must.....we all know how hard it is to get in the playoffs, let alone in AL East.

Cubs and Mets tomorrow on ESPN.

davenotdead 09.23.2008 11:17 PM

Jackson is great some games, not so great the next... he have the most double plays on the staff.... i think Price will be a much tougher matchup for opposing lineups... especially since they havent seen him yet. i think that's the thinking behind it

krastian 09.23.2008 11:31 PM

I think Jackson has been pretty awesome the last month or so.

He'll get his 13th win against the O's tomorrow.
